About UW-IT

UW Information Technology (UW-IT) is the central IT organization for the University of Washington, providing mission-critical infrastructure and technology services to all three campuses, UW Medicine, and global research operations. The Infrastructure Division (INF) designs, implements, and supports the essential IT infrastructure that powers teaching, research, and discovery.

About the Role

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer for Identity & Device Management plays a pivotal role in managing enterprise-scale infrastructure with a focus on Microsoft technologies and the Azure ecosystem. This position designs, integrates, and implements systems that support managed devices across a diverse and distributed environment-helping UW advance its mission through reliable, secure, and scalable IT services.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain large-scale infrastructure across Windows and macOS environments using Microsoft Intune and Autopilot

Design and administer Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) in a hybrid identity environment, including PIM, Access Reviews, and Graph-based PowerShell

Automate processes and improve service reliability through scripting and systems development

Monitor, troubleshoot, and secure systems at scale while ensuring compliance with best practices

Collaborate across teams to design strategic solutions supporting UW's identity modernization initiatives

You Bring

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)

4+ years as a systems engineer with hands-on expertise in Windows client OS, Intune, Azure, and Entra ID

Strong troubleshooting, automation, and security skills

Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation abilities

A growth mindset-willing to learn, share knowledge, and continuously improve

Preferred Skills

Experience with ITIL, PowerShell, Terraform, Azure DevOps, Jamf, and Defender/CrowdStrike

Background in higher education or large-scale enterprise environments
