About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Communications Technician I to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with at least one year of commercial cabling experience who are looking to build their career in the structured cabling and low-voltage industry. The ideal candidate will have experience pulling fiber, a strong work ethic, and reliable transportation to travel to job sites.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1+ year of commercial cabling experience
  • Experience pulling and handling fiber optic cable
  • Reliable transportation to and from work sites
  • Ability to work in commercial construction environments
  • Ability to lift, carry, and install cabling and related equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Key Responsibilities

  • Install work area outlets for:
    • Floor monuments
    • Modular furniture surface-mount boxes
    • Wall outlets and box eliminators
  • Pull, route, and dress cable through walls, ceilings, and modular furniture
  • Perform pre-termination procedures, including:
    • Organizing and labeling cables
    • Determining cable length and slack requirements
    • Dressing and securing cabling
  • Properly suspend and support cable using:
    • Cable trays
    • J-hooks
    • D-rings
    • Bridal rings
    • Trapeze supports
  • Build and organize telecommunications closets by:
    • Installing backboards
    • Mounting racks and patch panels
    • Installing cross-connects and fiber hardware
  • Install grounding systems for racks, equipment, and cabling
  • Perform fire-stopping procedures and install sleeves through fire-rated walls
  • Pull cable through sleeves and core penetrations
  • Terminate low-voltage devices and cabling
  • Accurately complete required documentation, including:
    • Timesheets
    • Work orders
    • Change orders
    • Material transfers
    • Tool transfers
  • Adhere to all company, customer, quality, and safety standards
  • Complete additional duties as assigned

  • Phillips and flathead screwdrivers
  • Drywall saw
  • Torpedo level
  • Tape measure
  • Snips with belt sheath
  • Needle nose pliers
  • Channel lock pliers
  • Hammer
  • Wrench set
  • Cable stripper
  • Flashlight
  • Work gloves

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
