NSX/ VCF Consultant

Skill Set: NSX | AVI Senior Consultant

Position Overview:
As a Senior AVI / NSX Consultant, you will serve as the primary delivery consultant for the end-to-end implementation of VMware AVI Load Balancer and NSX capabilities within a VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1 private cloud environment. You will lead greenfield AVI deployment and integration across Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), NSX networking, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and virtual machine workloads while executing build, integration, validation, documentation, and knowledge-transfer activities. This full-time, remote contract assignment is planned from November 25, 2026, through January 25, 2028.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the greenfield installation of AVI in VCF 9.1, including AVI Controller cluster deployment and lifecycle management through VCF Operations.
• Design Service Engine Groups and integrate AVI with VCF VPCs and NSX segments, including high-availability and placement logic.
• Implement the AVI Kubernetes Operator (AKO) and AVI Multi-Cluster Operator (AMKO) to automate route, ingress, and Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) services for OpenShift and VMware Kubernetes Service (VKS).
• Configure multi-site GSLB to support disaster recovery and global load balancing across geographically distributed data centers.
• Contribute to, advise on, and oversee infrastructure-as-code automation for AVI Virtual Services, Pools, and Service Engines using Ansible.
• Deploy and configure NSX components; execute build plans; implement network, storage, firewall, and microsegmentation policies; and validate integration points.
• Troubleshoot deployment and performance issues through path analysis, log analysis, root-cause identification, and optimization, escalating when needed.
• Work with the solution architect to align implementation with approved architecture and design specifications.
• Create configuration documentation, runbooks, operational procedures, and as-built documentation for customer handoff.
• Provide technical mentorship, knowledge transfer, and Day-1 and Day-2 operational support, including Load Balancing as Code best practices.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of VMware delivery experience in professional services or consulting.
• Hands-on experience deploying VMware AVI Load Balancer and NSX in VCF 5.x and/or 9.x environments.
• Understanding of VCF 9.0 or 9.1 architecture and VCF Operations workflows for AVI deployment.
• Advanced knowledge of AKO and AMKO for Layer 4 through Layer 7 service translation in VMware Kubernetes Service.
• Advanced proficiency with NSX, VPC design, Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), IP address management (IPAM) integration, firewall policy, and microsegmentation.
• Strong technical experience with vSphere, vSAN, VKS, Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) Manager, and container networking.
• Hands-on Ansible automation experience and familiarity with infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Strong network troubleshooting, path analysis, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills in customer-facing engagements.
• Ability to lead multi-phase delivery activities and work effectively with architects and customer technical teams.

Preferred: VMware Certified Professional – VMware Cloud Foundation Administrator (2V0-17.25).
Optional: VMware Cloud Foundation Architect (2V0-13.25).
