The Enterprise Architect will define, govern, and assure the target-state architecture for an Oracle EBS Financials upgrade, ensuring technical integrity, scalability, compliance, and alignment with business objectives.
This role acts as the architectural authority across application, data, integration, security, and infrastructure layers throughout the upgrade lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
1. Enterprise Architecture & Target State Definition
Define current-state and target-state architecture for Oracle EBS Financials
Establish architectural principles covering:
Application layering
Customization strategy
Integration patterns
Data ownership and flows
Ensure alignment with enterprise IT standards and roadmap
2. Upgrade Architecture Governance
Own architectural decisions across:
Database upgrade strategy
EBS R12.2.x application architecture
Online Patching (ADOP) readiness
Customization retrofit and rationalization
Approve technical design artifacts:
Technical Design Documents
Integration architecture diagrams
Data conversion and reconciliation strategy
3. Financial Modules Architectural Oversight
Provide architectural guidance for:
GL ledger setup, SLA, and accounting architecture
AP / AR integration with CM and TAX
FA accounting, depreciation, and reporting impacts
Cash Management bank, reconciliation, and interface design
Ensure cross-module accounting integrity and data consistency
4. Customizations, Extensions & Retrofit Strategy
Lead assessment of:
Custom Forms, Reports, Interfaces, Workflows
OA Framework, XML Publisher, and concurrent programs
Define retain, retire, replace, or redesign strategy
Ensure all custom objects are:
ADOP compliant
Performance-optimized
Supportable post-upgrade
5. Integration & Data Architecture
Define integration patterns with:
Banks, Tax engines, Procurement, Billing systems
Legacy or downstream systems
Govern:
Interface architecture
Data ownership, reconciliation, and error handling
Ensure minimal business disruption during cutover
6. Security, Controls & Compliance
Define role-based security architecture aligned with:
Segregation of Duties (SoD)
SOX / ITrequirements
Review and approve:
User access model
Audit and compliance controls
Ensure TAX and CM configurations meet statutory and audit needs
7. Performance, Scalability & Infrastructure Alignment
Ensure solution is optimized for:
Financial close performance
High-volume transactions (AP invoices, AR receipts)
Provide architectural guidance on:
Hosting (On-prem / OCI)
Backup, DR, and HA strategy
8. Stakeholder & Delivery Leadership
Act as architectural authority for:
Technical leads
Functional leads
System integrator teams
Participate in Steering Committee discussions for architecture-related risks and decisions
Support go-live readiness, stabilization, and hypercare
Required Skills & Experience
Deep hands-on experience with Oracle EBS Financials architecture
Proven leadership in EBS upgrade programs (11i / R12.x → R12.2.x)
Strong understanding of:
EBS Financial modules (GL, AP, AR, FA, CM, TAX)
ADOP and online patching
Custom code retrofit strategies
Ability to translate business needs into scalable enterprise architecture
