Our client is a fintech company. They seek a Staff/Principal Engineer, AI Platform to join their Manhattan, NY office.
The Role
You''ll be the builder behind our AI infrastructure — designing and owning the centralized platforms, agents, and guardrails that empower every team to leverage AI effectively. Working closely with engineering leadership, you''ll translate strategy into production-grade systems: standing up MCP gateways, cloud-based sandboxed execution environments, and embedding agentic tooling across our SDLC, CI/CD, and operational workflows.
The ideal candidate brings deep infrastructure and platform engineering expertise alongside hands-on experience building with and on top of LLMs and agentic systems.
What You''ll Do
- Develop a centralized AI platform that integrates seamlessly with existing ecosystems
- Maintain secure sandbox environments for autonomous code execution, including persistent storage, snapshot/restore functionality, and isolation measures
- Create custom sub-agents, skills, and steering guidelines that embed company-specific knowledge and architectural patterns into workflows
- Integrate AI tooling across the software development lifecycle and developer experience
- Extend AI capabilities beyond engineering through integrations such as Slack bots, database query agents, session replay ingestion, telemetry analysis, and automated operations workflows
- Assess and incorporate third-party agentic tools and platforms, ensuring compatibility with internal systems and infrastructure
- Establish and document engineering standards and best practices for AI-assisted workflows across the organization
What We''re Looking For
- Strong infrastructure and platform engineering background — you''ve built and operated complex distributed systems and developer tooling at scale
- Deep, hands-on experience with the modern AI tooling stack (LLMs, agents, MCP, etc.)
- Security-first mindset — you naturally think about auth, permissions, egress control, identities, and blast radius when designing agentic systems
- A track record of automating workflows and eliminating manual toil at an organizational level
- Bias toward shipping production-hardened solutions over prototypes and proofs of concept
