Genesis10 is currently seeking a Scrum Master for a contract position with a Major Financial Services Firm located in New York, NY. This is a 6 month contract opportunity. This role is focused on delivering maximum value to the customer by facilitating Scrum ceremonies and supporting the team in following the Scrum delivery process. The Scrum Master will also handle traditional project management duties including scope definition, staffing, communication of status, budget oversight, and risk management, as well as authoring user stories and assisting with testing.
Responsibilities: - Serve the team and product owner in turning requirements into working software
- Track progress and help the team achieve their commitments, developing corrective actions when problems are identified
- Manage and report the status of scope, schedule, resourcing, and financials
- Extract and document requirements, authoring user stories and acceptance criteria
- Ensure team members understand and follow established processes
- Define and maintain product quality expectations, guarding against the accumulation of technical debt
- Work with the technical team and product owner, balancing the interests of both when issues arise
- Remove impediments to allow the team to focus on engineering tasks
- Lead conflict resolution within the team to remove roadblocks to collaboration
- Guide project team meetings including sprint pre/planning, daily scrums, and sprint reviews
- Facilitate retrospective discussions and support continuous improvement efforts
- Limit external interference for the team
Requirements: - Degree in information technology, business, or a related field
- Exceptional people skills with experience working with diverse groups and arbitrating conflicts
- Understanding of financial controls needed in project management and consulting
- Practical understanding of how to scope and estimate work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in Project Management and/or serving as a Scrum Master
- Experience managing more than one significant project at a time
- Practical use of quality management tools and techniques
Desired skills: - Prior experience as a Business Analyst and/or Tester
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
Pay range: $79 - $89 per hour
