Overview:TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Application Security Engineer to support the development and maturation of an enterprise Application Security program. This role requires a blend of strategic vision and hands-on technical expertise, with a strong focus on securing enterprise applications across both on-prem and cloud environments.
This individual will play a critical role in shaping application security strategy, implementing security tools, and ensuring secure-by-design practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the development and advancement of the organization's Application Security program
- Define and implement application security standards, policies, and best practices to support secure development
- Assess the current state of application security and develop a roadmap to mature the program
- Work with both on-prem and SaaS-based enterprise applications to identify and mitigate security risks
- Architect and implement security solutions and tools, supporting full lifecycle deployment until transition to operational teams
- Partner with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure secure integration between applications and systems
- Establish guardrails and controls to ensure new and existing applications are secure as they scale
- Conduct application security reviews, risk assessments, and compliance evaluations
- Develop and present security recommendations, strategies, and reports to leadership and executive stakeholders
- Translate complex technical risks into clear business impact for non-technical audiences
- Support audit readiness and maintain alignment with regulatory and cybersecurity frameworks
Required Qualifications:- 10+ years of experience in IT or cybersecurity, including architect or lead-level responsibility
- Strong experience developing or managing Application Security programs in enterprise environments
- Deep understanding of modern application security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques
- Architect-level knowledge of enterprise application ecosystems and integrations
- Experience securing both internally hosted applications and SaaS platforms (Salesforce, ServiceNow, Archer, etc.)
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and regulatory requirements (NIST, PCI-DSS, FFIEC, HIPAA, etc.)
- Ability to operate independently and drive strategy in a highly visible role
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills:- Experience implementing application security tools (SAST, DAST, SCA)
- Experience working in regulated environments (financial services, healthcare, etc.)
- Strong understanding of API security, identity/access integration, and application architecture
- Experience presenting to and influencing executive leadership

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Honolulu, HI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $70.00/hr.
