Summary

Job description

The IT Asset Management Analyst I is responsible for the hands-on operational execution of the IT hardware lifecycle — from procurement and receipt through deployment, tracking, maintenance, and secure retirement. This role is primarily warehouse- and asset-focused and includes limited technical responsibilities such as basic hardware troubleshooting, warranty repair (RMA) coordination, and device readiness.

The ideal candidate brings a blend of warehouse operations, IT asset management discipline, and working knowledge of IT support, ensuring hardware is accurately tracked, compliant with NERC/CIP requirements, securely transported, and deployed in a ready-to-use state. This is a contract position supporting a regulated electric utility environment.

Key Responsibilities

IT Asset & Warehouse Operations (Primary Function)

Manage all daily warehouse operations for IT hardware, including receiving, shipping, storage, staging, and physical inventory.

Asset tag, document, and maintain accurate records of all IT equipment using IT Asset Management tools such as ServiceNow.

Reconcile purchase orders, verify shipment counts and condition, and escalate discrepancies when needed.

Coordinate hardware distribution and asset returns for IT teams and end users.

Support hardware procurement activities and maintain stock levels of standard devices and accessories.

Perform scheduled weekly deliveries and pickups of IT hardware and accessories to company locations using a company-provided vehicle, ensuring secure transport and documented chain-of-custody.

Maintain chain-of-custody documentation and follow NERC/CIP requirements for secure handling, transport, and tracking of assets.

Device Preparation & Technical Support

Perform basic troubleshooting of laptops, desktops, and peripherals before escalating to workstation or endpoint support teams.

Validate device readiness and ensure quality before releasing hardware to end users.

Support user device replacements, swaps, and lifecycle refresh activities.

Coordinate warranty repair and RMA activities with hardware vendors and manufacturers.

Data Disposition, Compliance & Lifecycle Tracking

Perform secure data wipes, drive destruction, and end-of-life asset handling in compliance with NERC/CIP and internal security standards.

Document disposition steps and maintain audit-ready lifecycle records within ServiceNow or approved asset systems.

Ensure awareness of internal control processes and SOX-related asset handling guidelines.

Process Improvement, Documentation & Collaboration

Maintain and update standard operating procedures for IT asset handling and warehouse operations.

Assist in developing efficient workflows to optimize inventory accuracy, deployment speed, and data quality.

Collaborate with workstation, network, security, procurement, and IT Asset Management teams to support enterprise hardware standards and refresh cycles.

Key Attributes

Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Ability to prioritize system-generated (ServiceNow) tasks based on criticality and meet deadlines.

Self-motivated; detail- and goal-oriented with an innovative mindset.

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Experience applying IT data analysis techniques using Excel, PeopleSoft, and ServiceNow.

Strong interpersonal and team-building skills with the ability to work across diverse teams and influence change across functional and business boundaries.

Must be reliable, accountable, and flexible.

Physical Requirements

Ability to occasionally stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods of time.

Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required to perform job duties.

Ability to lift, move, and carry equipment weighing between 10 and 70 pounds to perform essential job functions.

Candidate will be working on-site in Topeka, KS. Core hours are Monday through Friday 7a-4p with some flexibility.
