Genesis10 is currently seeking a Software Engineer - Infrastructure Automation & Private Cloud Platform Engineering for a hybrid position (3 days onsite per week required) with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC, Jersey City, NJ or Plano, TX. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. We are seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to design and build the automation platforms that power an Internal Cloud Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) ecosystem. In this role, you will develop software products and platform services that automate the provisioning, configuration, and management of infrastructure components. The ideal candidate will combine strong software engineering expertise in Java and Spring Boot with hands-on experience delivering automation solutions for infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
Responsibilities: - Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade software solutions using Java and Spring Boot
- Build RESTful APIs and microservices that automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, lifecycle management, and operational workflows
- Develop platform automation capabilities for compute, storage, networking, virtualization, and HCI services
- Engineer infrastructure-as-code and API-driven automation frameworks that enable standardized platform deployments
- Design reusable software components, libraries, and services that support scalable cloud platform operations
- Integrate automation solutions into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery and infrastructure lifecycle management
- Develop containerized applications and services supporting platform engineering initiatives
- Collaborate with infrastructure architects, virtualization engineers, and cloud platform teams to define automation requirements and implementation patterns
- Create observability, monitoring, and operational tooling to improve platform reliability and supportability
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and software engineering best practices
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot, to accelerate software delivery while maintaining engineering quality and governance standards
- Drive automation maturity by eliminating manual operational processes through software-first engineering approaches
Requirements: - 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong emphasis on backend or platform engineering
- Expert-level proficiency in Java and modern software engineering practices
- Hands-on experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
- Demonstrated experience developing automation solutions for infrastructure, private cloud, virtualization, storage, networking, or platform engineering environments
- Strong understanding of infrastructure-as-code and API-driven automation principles
- Experience integrating software solutions into CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment frameworks
- Proficiency with Linux operating systems and scripting languages for automation and troubleshooting
- Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift
- Familiarity with Git-based development workflows, code review processes, automated testing, and software quality practices
- Ability to utilize AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve engineering productivity
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across software and infrastructure domains
Desired skills: - 7+ years of experience building software platforms supporting private cloud, virtualization, or infrastructure services
- Java Professional Certification or equivalent software engineering credentials
- Experience developing automation for VMware, Nutanix, OpenStack, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, or hyperconverged infrastructure environments
- Experience consuming and integrating infrastructure APIs across compute, storage, network, virtualization, and cloud management layers
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures, messaging platforms, and workflow orchestration frameworks
- Experience with infrastructure lifecycle management, platform provisioning systems, and self-service cloud delivery models
- Exposure to observability platforms, telemetry, monitoring, and operational analytics
- Experience working in large-scale regulated enterprises with rigorous SDLC, change management, production readiness, and operational excellence requirements
- Understanding of modern Platform Engineering and Internal Developer Platform (IDP) concepts
Pay range: $60.24 - $68.24 per hour
