As a Sr Associate General Counsel role serving as Lead AI Counsel and Legal Business Partner (LBP) for the Global Information Technology organization. We are looking for an experienced, thoughtful, and strategic attorney with an enterprise mindset to support a multi-faceted practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Champion for strategic, innovative and responsible use of AI across the company, including shaping AI policy, advising on AI use cases and training with emerging regulatory frameworks.
- Serve as the lead Legal Business Partner to the Information Technology (IT) organization, advising on technology-related laws and regulations, including those related to artificial intelligence (AI).
- Develop a strong working relationship with the Global Information Technology (IT) organization, providing strategic legal advice tailored to business priorities, embodying a "One Gilead" mindset bridging the gap between operational goals and successful execution.
- Provide prompt, strategic, and efficient legal input to internal ITDepartment, as well as the Development, Commercial, Finance, HR, Quality, Research and PDM organizations and senior management regarding complex legal matters that span multiple jurisdictions-particularly in the areas of technology and AI regulation and other applicable healthcare laws.
- Review and advise on global strategic business plans pertaining to implementation of enterprise IT solutions, including those leveraging AI.
- Support business in adopting AI governance processes and procedures in accordance with enterprise AI Strategy & Data Science Council guidance.
- Stay abreast of evolving legal frameworks and regulations, technological developments and industry trends, particularly in AI, identifying areas of risk to inform the business's strategic approach.
- Work in close partnership with, and coordinate advice from the Corporate Legal, Privacy & Data Ethics, Intellectual Property (IP) and other Gilead Legal and Compliance teams on AI and IT related matters.
- Serve as liaison for the business on matters requiring cross-functional or cross-border input and coordination.

Minimum Education & Experience- A Juris Doctorate or fully qualified legal credentials in one or more geographies of operations. Fully admitted to practice law in the respective country or jurisdiction.
- 14+ years professional experience in-house in biotech, pharmaceuticals or other highly regulated industries or law firm advising in all relevant areas of practice for these industries.
- Experience with AI, technology regulation, data use consideration as well as litigation and investigations is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Knowledge & Other Requirements- Invest time and effort in building strong relationships with business stakeholders. Actively seek opportunities to engage with business stakeholders, anticipate their needs, and offer support or guidance in a timely manner. Be proactive in understanding their goals and challenges.
Apply a deep understanding of the biopharma industry, Gilead's business objectives, and the specific challenges faced by different departments. This will enable the legal and compliance team to provide tailored and practical advice.

The salary range for this position is: $302,005.00 - $390,830.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
