Microsoft 365 Identity and Collaboration Lead / Consulting / Remote / EST Hours Location

My client, a top IT VAR, is seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Identity & Collaboration Lead to lead complex enterprise Microsoft infrastructure modernization, identity transformation, and collaboration initiatives. This position requires a versatile, hands-on technical leader with deep expertise across Microsoft 365, on-premises Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint, and OneDrive.

The ideal candidate brings a strong consulting background and has successfully designed and delivered large-scale Active Directory domain upgrades, migrations, hybrid identity integrations, and Microsoft 365 transformations. This individual will serve as a trusted technical advisor to enterprise customers, leading projects from initial discovery and architecture through implementation and delivery.

Contract Duration: 6-12 month Contract-to-Hire

Required Skills & Experience
  • 8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise Microsoft technologies.
  • 5+ years of client-facing consulting experience, with a proven ability to lead technical discovery sessions, assess customer environments, recommend solutions, and independently design and deliver complex Microsoft 365 and infrastructure transformation projects.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with on-premises Active Directory, including domain upgrades, migrations, architecture, design, configuration, and modernization.
  • Deep technical expertise in Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Strong experience with hybrid identity architecture, Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS), Entra Connect, Cloud Sync, authentication protocols, and cloud identity integrations.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise Microsoft 365 migrations, Exchange migrations, and tenant consolidation initiatives.
  • Experience designing and implementing identity security controls, including Conditional Access, MFA, identity governance, and Zero Trust architectures.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills, including experience with Microsoft Graph APIs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead customer-facing engagements, develop technical solutions, create SOWs, and estimate project effort.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work independently across multiple technical disciplines.

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Microsoft certifications such as MS-102, SC-300, SC-100, SC-400, or AZ-305.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Defender, and Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, tenant-to-tenant migrations, and complex enterprise consolidations.
  • Familiarity with migration tools such as Quest, ShareGate, BitTitan, or AvePoint.

What You Will Be Doing
Tech Breakdown
  • OneDrive, SharePoint, Entra ID, Office 365, on premise Active Directory and Exchange. Consultants really need to be a Swiss army knife here.
  • Deliver on large Active Directory domain upgrades, migrations, and designs, as well as Cloud identity integrations.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise Microsoft 365 and hybrid identity solutions across Active Directory, Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Design and execute large-scale Active Directory domain upgrades, migrations, consolidations, and modernization initiatives, including integration with cloud identity platforms.
  • Lead Microsoft 365 migrations, Exchange modernization, tenant consolidations, and SharePoint/OneDrive migration projects.
  • Architect and implement identity and access management solutions involving Entra Connect, Cloud Sync, Conditional Access, MFA, Privileged Identity Management, and Zero Trust security principles.
  • Conduct client discovery workshops, technical assessments, and architecture sessions while developing solution designs, migration strategies, and technical documentation.
  • Support presales activities, including solution scoping, statements of work (SOWs), project estimation, and effort sizing.
  • Serve as the technical lead for customer engagements, providing hands-on implementation, troubleshooting, technical guidance, and mentorship to junior consultants.
