Factory Automation Software Engineer – SECS/GEM / C++ / Semiconductor Test

Location: Austin, TX preferred; San Jose, CA or Chandler, AZ also available

We are seeking an experienced Factory Automation Software Engineer to support semiconductor test and manufacturing automation solutions. This is a hybrid technical position combining software development, factory automation, customer integration, and technical pre-sales/support.

The ideal candidate will have experience in at least 2 of the following 3 areas:

  • SECS/GEM Factory Automation – Experience developing, integrating, or supporting SECS/GEM solutions within semiconductor manufacturing environments.
  • Software Development – Strong C++ development experience in Linux environments, including scripting, networking, and software integration.
  • Semiconductor Test / ATE – Experience with semiconductor test equipment and production environments. Advantest V93000/93K, SmarTest, or EM360 experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support SECS/GEM factory automation solutions.
  • Participate throughout the full solution lifecycle, including requirements discovery, solution design, software development, integration, and customer support.
  • Work directly with customers to understand manufacturing and automation requirements.
  • Provide technical pre-sales support, product demonstrations, solution positioning, implementation, and installation support.
  • Collaborate with R&D, sales, services, and account teams to deliver customer solutions.
  • Support software integration within semiconductor fab and production environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex software, automation, and system integration issues.
  • Travel within the U.S. and internationally as needed for customer integration and project support.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical experience.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in software engineering, semiconductor manufacturing, factory automation, production engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with SECS/GEM factory automation and/or semiconductor manufacturing systems.
  • Strong software development background with C++ and Linux.
  • Experience with one or more additional technologies such as Qt, Tcl/Tk, Python, Perl, Java, SQL, Linux shell scripting, and networking.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and customer-facing skills.
  • Experience with Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) is highly desirable.

Preferred Experience

  • Advantest V93000 / V93K test platforms.
  • SmarTest operating system and V93K Production APIs.
  • EM360 fleet management software.
  • SECS/GEM and 300mm SEMI standards, including E5, E30, E40, and E94.
  • Technical sales, solutions engineering, or technical pre-sales experience.
  • Production software support within a semiconductor fab or manufacturing environment.
