Position Summary

The Collaboration Platform Principal Engineer is a senior engineering leadership role responsible for the strategic service engineering, operational excellence, and continual modernization of Huntington's enterprise collaboration platforms. This position leads the Collaboration Service Engineering team and serves as the senior technical authority for voice, video, trading communications, and unified collaboration services across the organization.

This role combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities to drive platform reliability, service innovation, engineering governance, and operational excellence. The Principal Engineer partners closely with Platform engineering, Infrastructure, Network Services, Security, and business stakeholders to deliver highly available, secure, and scalable collaboration solutions that support the organization's business objectives.

The successful candidate will possess a strong background in enterprise collaboration technologies, demonstrated leadership experience, and a passion for developing high-performing engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Collaboration Service Leadership
  • Provide technical and organizational leadership for the Collaboration Service Engineering team.
  • Establish service engineering standards, operational processes, service roadmaps.
  • Lead a team of engineers responsible for the support, stability, and continuous improvement of enterprise collaboration services.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for critical incidents, complex technical challenges, and strategic decisions.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence.
Platform Ownership & Engineering

Provide strategic and operational ownership of enterprise collaboration technologies including:
  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
  • Cisco Emergency Responder (CER)
  • Cisco Voice Gateways and SIP Services
  • Webex Calling Multi-Tenant (MT)
  • Microsoft Teams Voice and Video Services
  • Cisco Webex Collaboration Services
  • Zoom Enterprise Services
  • IPC Trading and Financial Communications Platforms
Responsibilities include:
  • Designing, implementing, and optimizing collaboration platforms.
  • Managing platform lifecycle, capacity planning, and technology roadmaps.
  • Ensuring high availability, resiliency, scalability, and operational supportability.
Operational Excellence
  • Lead Tier 3 and Tier 4 engineering support activities for collaboration platforms.
  • Drive incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans for major service disruptions.
  • Establish and maintain operational runbooks, engineering documentation, and support procedures.
  • Monitor platform performance, service health, and capacity metrics.
  • Identify automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service reliability.
Team Development & Mentorship
  • Mentor and develop engineers across the Collaboration Services organization.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and talent development initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and leadership during complex projects and operational challenges.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience supporting enterprise collaboration, unified communications, voice, video, or telecommunications environments.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience leading engineering teams, technical organizations, or large-scale collaboration initiatives.

Preferred Technical Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience developing technical strategy while maintaining operational excellence.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise service management, change control, and operational support processes.
Unified Communications & Voice
  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
  • Cisco Emergency Responder (CER)
  • SIP trunking and VoIP technologies
  • Dial plans, route patterns, route lists, and media resources
  • Voice gateways and session management
  • Enterprise telephony architecture and operations
Collaboration Platforms
  • Webex Calling Multi-Tenant (MT)
  • Microsoft Teams Voice and Meeting Services
  • Cisco Webex Collaboration Suite
  • Conference room and video collaboration technologies
Financial Trading Platforms
  • IPC trading communications platforms or similar regulated trading environments
  • Understanding of voice recording, compliance, and specialized communications requirements within financial services environments
Networking & Infrastructure
  • TCP/IP networking fundamentals
  • Routing and switching concepts
  • DNS, DHCP, and network services
  • Quality of Service (QoS)
  • Firewall and security principles
  • Network troubleshooting and packet analysis

Compensation Range:
$70,000.00 - $140,000.00 USD Annual

The compensation range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan. In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
