Summary

Senior Network Engineer

Place of Performance: onsite in Portland, OR

Period of Performance: 6-12 month contract possibly contract for hire on W2

Citizenship: U.S. Citizen

Seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support enterprise network engineering initiatives within a large, distributed environment. This role requires a highly capable engineer who can independently deliver solutions, provide technical leadership, and strengthen overall team capability across campus and data center networks.

The ideal candidate is a strong routing and switching engineer with broad exposure to wireless, network security, and data center networking, and who is comfortable handling both planned project work and complex, adhoc engineering challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on engineering support for enterprise campus and data center networks, including lifecycle refreshes, infrastructure upgrades, and new site or office builds.
  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot routing and switching solutions in Cisco based environments.
  • Support and maintain wireless networking solutions, including troubleshooting complex connectivity and performance issues.
  • Work with network identity and access technologies, including Cisco Identity Services Engine.
  • Contribute to data center networking efforts, with exposure to technologies such as Cisco ACI and virtualized networking platforms.
  • Assist with network monitoring and operational tooling, including platforms used for visibility, alerting, and performance analysis.
  • Support one off and non standard engineering requests, applying strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to resolve complex issues.
  • Act as a technical leader and escalation point, helping guide junior engineers and contractors and improving overall team effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong hands on experience in enterprise routing and switching environments.
  • Proven experience working with Cisco networking technologies, including routing, switching, wireless, and identity services.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute at a senior or lead engineer level, providing direction rather than relying on others for guidance.
  • Experience supporting both project based work and ongoing operational network needs. Preferred Qualifications.
  • CCNP certification or equivalent experience required; CCIE level expertise or capability strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Cisco ACI and modern data center networking architectures.
  • Familiarity with legacy and evolving data center environments, including virtualization and hybrid networking concepts. Work Location & Schedule.
