Job Requirements UI/UX Designer – Legacy Application Modernization (VB.NET to ReactJS / Java Spring Boot)Location: Richardson, TX (Hybrid)Employment Type: Contract (6 Months)Experience Level: Senior (8+ Years)Role OverviewWe are seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer to lead the user experience and interface redesign of a legacy VB.NET enterprise application being modernized into a modern ReactJS frontend supported by Java Spring Boot microservices. In this role, you will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams to transform legacy workflows into intuitive, responsive, and modern enterprise user experiences while preserving core business logic.Key ResponsibilitiesLegacy Workflow Analysis: Evaluate existing VB.NET application screens, complex workflows, and business processes to design streamlined user journeys.Prototyping & Design: Create high-fidelity wireframes, user journeys, mockups, and interactive prototypes tailored for modern web applications.Modern Frontend Alignment: Design responsive, accessible UI components optimized for ReactJS applications.Design System Ownership: Establish and maintain scalable design systems, enterprise style guides, and reusable component libraries.Research & Usability: Conduct user research, lead usability testing sessions, and incorporate feedback from cross-functional stakeholders.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with backend (Java Spring Boot) and frontend (ReactJS) developers to ensure design fidelity and feasibility during implementation.Required QualificationsExperience: 8+ years of dedicated UI/UX design experience in complex enterprise web applications.Portfolio: Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end web and software application design projects.Tooling: Expertise in modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.Design Standards: Deep understanding of user-centered design (UCD) principles, responsive web design, and digital accessibility compliance (WCAG).Stakeholder Management: Strong communication skills with a track record of facilitating design alignment across business and technical teams.Preferred Qualifications & SkillsApplication Modernization: Proven background in redesigning or migrating legacy desktop/enterprise software (e.g., VB.NET, WinForms) to modern web technologies.Frontend Ecosystem: Familiarity with component-based design systems tailored for ReactJS and general awareness of Java Spring Boot service architectures.Domain Knowledge: Experience in healthcare, insurance, financial services, or other regulated enterprise sectors.Core CompetenciesUser Research & Persona CreationInformation Architecture & WireframingInteractive Prototyping & Visual DesignEnterprise Design Systems & Component LibrariesAccessibility (WCAG) & Responsive DesignAgile Development CollaborationWork Experience 5-7Years
