Senior Architect – Data & Analytics COE

POSITION SUMMARY:

Establish and build out our long-term data strategy and architecture for the Data & Analytics Center of Excellence. Collaborate with various data management teams and business units in architecting and enhancing data warehouse & data lake solutions, ETL processes, and reports. Expand and maintain our data dictionaries, architecture design documents, and standards documentation and promote adherence to policy and best practices

·         Collaborate with data management teams to understand enterprise data requirements and contribute to data solution and architecture design.

·         Partner closely with business intelligence and analytics teams, product managers, and leadership to understand data needs, deliver precise and high-quality data solutions, and promote adherence to data policies and best practices.

·         Partner with other IT teams to ensure data platforms, architecture, and development practices meet IT standards and design requirements.

·         Expand and maintain data dictionaries, architecture design documents, standards documentation, and development frameworks.

·         Develop data objects and processes, including marts, tables, and ETL components, within data warehousing and data lake ecosystems according to business and technical specifications.

·         Provide data architecture and analysis support to business units for active projects and initiatives and propose effective solutions.

·         Troubleshoot data platform, pipeline, and architecture-related issues, providing maintenance and support as needed to ensure maintainable and scalable architecture.

·         Stay informed of industry trends and attend training, conferences, and seminars aligned with the organization’s business requirements.

·         Participate in Credit Union training and development programs.

·         Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

·         Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, as well as UNFCU’s Code of Ethics & Business Conduct.

TYPE & AMOUNT OF EXPERIENCE:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

·         3 years of experience in Data Architect Role

·         5 years of working knowledge in Datawarehouse

·         5 years of data engineering experience in MS SQL, Fabric, Snowflake or other equivalent data platforms

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

·         Experience in ETL development using Microsoft SQL Server Platform and Oracle DBMS

·         Proficiency in SQL, including query performance tuning, index maintenance, and understanding of database structures

·         Proficient with ETL tool like SSIS, Azure pipeline, DBT, or Informatica

·         Proficient in SQL, Python, DAX, or similar coding languages

·         Experience creating reports in tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik

·         Experience using cloud technologies like Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, or Databricks

·         Knowledge of various SQL data storage mechanisms and Big Data technologies

·         Experience in warehousing architecture techniques, including MOLAP, ROLAP, ODS, Data Marts, and Enterprise Data Warehouse

·         Experience with data security practices using a combination of layered security controls: network, identity, privacy, and authorization

·         Knowledge of single sign-on (SSO) authentication using Azure Active Directory (Azure AD)

·         Ability to analyze big-picture data needs for the organization

·         Exposure to data encryption tools and standards

·         Exposure to XML and HTML

·         Experience in data migration from various systems to SQL Server Database

·         Experience with Azure Devops, Github, and CI/CD development principles

·         Knowledge of financial/banking industry

·         Experience working in environments within various firewall layers

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS:

·         Critical system outages and system upgrades may require 24/7 coverage on short notice
