Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead Java Developer to join our Software Engineering team supporting a U.S. Federal Government client. The ideal candidate will have 12+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering secure, scalable, cloud-native enterprise applications using modern Java technologies. This role requires strong technical leadership, architecture expertise, and hands-on development experience in Agile and DevSecOps environments.

The successful candidate will lead technical design, mentor development teams, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet federal security, compliance, and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, deployment, and support of enterprise-scale Java applications.
  • Design and implement cloud-native, microservices-based architectures using modern Java frameworks.
  • Translate business and client requirements into scalable technical solutions and recommend architectural alternatives.
  • Lead and mentor a team of developers by conducting code reviews, enforcing best practices, and providing technical guidance.
  • Develop secure RESTful APIs and event-driven services.
  • Build highly available, resilient, and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, DevOps Engineers, QA, Security, and Infrastructure teams.
  • Drive modernization initiatives, including legacy application migration to cloud platforms.
  • Implement secure coding practices aligned with OWASP Top 10 and federal cybersecurity standards.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, sprint planning, estimation, and release planning.
  • Improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and observability.
  • Develop automated unit, integration, and performance tests.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline development and DevSecOps automation.
  • Create and maintain architecture documentation, technical specifications, and deployment documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • 12+ years of enterprise software development experience.
  • 5+ years leading development teams or technical initiatives.
  • Experience supporting Federal Government, State Government, or highly regulated industries is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Must be able to successfully pass required background investigations and security screening.
