Summary:

The Cardiovascular Technician (CVT) supports patient and family clinic visits by gathering histories, obtaining vitals, and performing cardiac diagnostic procedures. Responsibilities include equipment setup and maintenance, monitor scanning and preparation, test data reporting, and maintaining clinical spaces. This role also supports inpatient testing and assists across Heart Center locations as needed.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform and document vital signs, patient histories, and ordered cardiac tests (e.g., EKG, Holter, loop/event monitors, CPET, tilt table, stress tests).

2. Prepare, scan, and maintain holter/event monitor kits and databases.

3. Clean and restock EKG and exam rooms between patients and at end of day.

4. Educate patients and families on testing procedures and follow cardiologist orders for testing.

5. Perform EKGs and other testing for inpatient units as needed.

6. Operate and troubleshoot cardiac testing equipment; escalate issues to Biomedical Services when necessary.

7. Generate and submit test reports and usable data for physician interpretation.

8. Maintain a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and infection control standards.

9. Provide administrative support, assist with quality improvement efforts, and participate in inventory tracking.

10. Other duties as assigned.

Other information:

Technical Expertise

1. Basic knowledge of pediatric and adult EKGs and cardiac anatomy is required.

2. Experience in a healthcare or patient care setting is preferred.

3. Familiarity with cardiac monitoring equipment is preferred.

4. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.

6. Experience using EPIC or similar electronic medical record systems is preferred.

Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Education and Experience

1. Education: Associate\'s degree in health care or related field. In lieu of degree, 5 years experience working in a health care setting or 2 years in a clinical role (LPN, MA) with cardiac experience preferred

3. Certification: Basic Life Support certification is required. EKG technician certification is preferred- EKG technician certification is required after 1 year of employment

4. Years of relevant experience: 1 year of experience is preferred.

5. Years of supervisory experience: none
