Position: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Palmdale, CA

Duration: 6+ months contract

About the Role

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team supporting air vehicle systems development. This position focuses on designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes and digital work instructions, while driving adoption of advanced technologies such as automation, robotics, and computer-aided manufacturing. The role requires deep expertise in CATIA V5, Teamcenter, and air vehicle systems to ensure operational excellence and compliance with aviation standards.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate across disciplines (industrial engineering, planning, scheduling, quality assurance, production) to develop and implement manufacturing processes.
  • Drive adoption of new technologies (automation, robotics, CAM software) to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality.
  • Create and analyze 3D model data environments to optimize manufacturing processes and digital work instructions.
  • Define operational procedures and build sequences leveraging materials and automated processes.
  • Evaluate equipment and tool performance (including IoT devices) and initiate corrective actions to ensure efficiency.
  • Develop statistical process control approaches and integrate reporting/data analytics solutions for continuous improvement.
  • Provide input to product design regarding concepts and specifications to maximize manufacturing effectiveness.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of recent CATIA V5 experience.
  • 3+ years of recent Teamcenter experience.
  • 5+ years of air vehicle systems experience (hydraulics, fuel, electrical, propulsion, avionics, flight test, ground test, environmental control systems).
  • Aviation industry experience required.
  • Experience in manufacturing processes including assembly, machining, electrical harness fabrication/routing, systems installations, and final assembly operations.
  • Experience developing visual work instructions for manufacturing environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong background in vehicle systems (not structures or composites).
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering and production teams.
