What you will do Johnson Controls is seeking a talented Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join our Chillers product group. In this role, you will design, develop, test, and sustain printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies used in Variable Speed Drive (VSD) applications. You will be part of a collaborative team responsible for the full product lifecycle-from design and simulation through prototype development and reliability testing-ensuring solutions meet defined hardware requirements and perform as expected. This position is based onsite in New Freedom, PA; candidates must reside within commuting distance or be willing to relocate.
How you will do it - Develop and maintain main control board, which contains MCU, FPGA and other circuits, for VSD application.
- Develop and maintain gate driver board and other PCBAs for VSD application.
- Design of analog and digital interface circuits, development of power supply circuits and/or selection of power supplies.
- Perform worst case circuit analysis and incorporation of appropriate reliability principles to ensure reliable operation over the environmental specifications.
- Design and maintain PCBAs including both schematic and layout using design tools.
- Independently conduct and apply cost analysis to feasibility studies on proposed designs or modifications to existing designs.
- Provide guidance/support to product technical support team and PCBA manufacturing factories as needed to maintain existing and/or NPI products.
- Integrate new and modify existing processes to cover all phases of the electronic development process.
- Understanding and complying with quality policy, procedures and instructions to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.
What you will need
Required - Bachelor's Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of professional power electronics engineering, or in lieu of experience, Master's degree
- PCBA schematic design and experience with variable speed drives
Preferred - Familiarity with TI MCU
- Familiarity with circuit design and layout tools
- Familiarity with signal integrity tools
- Experience with programmable logic
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $80,000 - $135,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
