At Lockheed Martin's Moorestown, New Jersey location in Moorestown, New Jersey, United States, our Launchers Engineering Team within the Sensors, Effectors, and Mission Systems (SEMS) organization develops advanced mechanical systems that support naval and missile launcher technologies. We are focused on designing, building, and delivering high-performance launcher hardware that operates reliably in demanding environments. Our work combines innovation, precision engineering, and mission-driven execution to support critical defense capabilities.

The Work

As an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer on the Launchers Engineering Team, you will contribute across the full design lifecycle of launcher components and assemblies.

Your responsibilities will include:

Performing conceptual and detailed mechanical design of parts and assemblies for launcher systems.

Conducting trade studies to evaluate design alternatives and optimize performance, cost, and manufacturability.

Creating engineering drawings and technical data packages that support fabrication and production.

Supporting developmental and prototype builds, including hands-on involvement with hardware.

Providing engineering support during fabrication, assembly, and production of launcher components.

Additional responsibilities:

Preparing and delivering technical presentations to internal stakeholders and external customers.

Investigating discrepant hardware, components, or assemblies during integration and build activities.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams including analysis, manufacturing, quality, and test engineering.

Supporting design reviews and contributing to continuous improvement of mechanical designs.

This position is based out of Moorestown, NJ.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance.

Basic Qualifications

What you will need:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering with 9 year professional related experience or Masters degree with 7 years related professional experience.
Ability to obtain & maintain a security clearance at the SECRET level (U.S. Citizenship required)
Professional (post-graduation) engineering experience in mechanical design
Experience serving in technical lead capacities (Integrated Product Team Lead or Design lead)
Demonstrated understanding of technical programmatic principles (Integrated Master Schedule, Earned Value Management, Risks, etc.)
Proficient in modeling within CAD modeling software such as Creo Parametric (detailed part and assembly design)

Desired skills

What will set you apart:
Active SECRET clearance
Experience creating or assisting with proposals or Basis of Estimates
Demonstrated experience of technical programmatic principles (Integrated Master Schedule, Earned Value Management, Risks, Financial Metrics)
Working knowledge of EPDM
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent disciplines
Advanced knowledge interpreting and applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
