Quest Defense Systems and Solutions is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer with experience in embedded C/C++, real-time operating systems, multicore processors, and low-level software development to build software that powers safety-critical systems. You'll work across software, hardware, FPGA, systems, and verification teams to design, develop, integrate, and validate embedded solutions for mission-critical applications.

Location: This position is located in Endicott, NY with a hybrid work schedule available

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required.

What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded software using C, C++, and Assembly.
  • Develop low-level software including device drivers, board support packages (BSPs), boot code, and processor initialization.
  • Optimize software performance on ARM-based multicore processors.
  • Analyze and improve deterministic real-time system performance, timing, and resource utilization.
  • Support hardware/software integration with FPGA, ASIC, and embedded hardware platforms.
  • Perform system integration, debugging, and verification using ARM DS IDE, DSTREAM, and Python.
  • Participate in software architecture, code reviews, and technical design discussions.
  • Support software verification and certification activities in accordance with DO-178C.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, FPGA, and verification engineers throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Help improve software quality, automation, and development processes.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or another STEM discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience developing embedded software.
  • Strong programming experience with Embedded C and C++.
  • Experience with real-time embedded systems, firmware, or low-level software development.
  • Experience with multicore processors or ARM-based architectures.
  • Experience debugging embedded software using hardware debugging tools.
  • Experience working with hardware/software integration.
  • Knowledge of DO-178C, safety-critical software, or other regulated embedded software environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Pay Ranges

$100,000-$140,000 USD
