Tesla is expanding its next generation Energy products to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. We're developing breakthrough technologies in firmware, electronics, test, and manufacturing to deliver industry leading products to the Residential, Industrial, and EV Charging markets.
The Systems Integration team is looking for a highly skilled electrical engineer to support the development of our automated test equipment. As part of the team, you will work closely with test and automation engineers to develop innovative solutions for feature validation. The responsibilities of the role include designing electrical and automation controls, selecting components for both high and low voltage systems, and collaborate with engineers to capture the full scope of test requirements.
Responsibilities
• Work in a fast-paced R&D environment to develop automated test solutions for feature validation
• Own the electrical schematic and design for all new test systems
• Select electrical components for both HV and LV systems including contactors, relays, circuit breakers, bussing, enclosures, etc.
• Spec wire harnessing designs, bulkhead connectors, pass-throughs etc.
• Instrumentation and sensing for data acquisition
• Basic PCBA layout & design
Additional Skills & Qualifications
BS degree or higher in EE, Electro-mechanical, Electronic Controls or equivalent
Minimum 3+ years of industry related experience designing test equipment, automation controls, electrical panel design, PLC or similar
Experience selecting electrical components such as e-stops, panel mount passthroughs, terminal blocks, contactors, door switches, indicator lights, etc.
Ability to size and specifying wire schematics and cable assemblies
Experience in PCB schematics and layout design
AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or other electrical drawing software
Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical systems
Effective communicator and excellent attention to detail
Time management skills and ability to navigate multiple competing priorities while maintaining a positive attitude
Experience with lab equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, programmable power supply, etc.)
Day to day: equipment design, focus on electrical equipment design, facilities, electrical design, electrical schematics, component selection, some controls, wire diagrams, controls panel design, electrical design engineer
Companies: prior R&D exp is a preferred
Autocad electrical – must have
Altium
Revit is more facilities
EE fundamentals
Design exp – one line diagram is a nice to have
Dipping toes into medium voltage – 6kv – 50kVolts
Nice to have with medium voltage exp
MV code and design exp – preferred
