Senior IBM InfoSphere MDM Developer – Kafka / Java

We are seeking an experienced Senior IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management (MDM) Developer to support, maintain, and enhance enterprise-level Master Person Index (MPI) and related applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with IBM InfoSphere MDM Standard Edition (Virtual MDM) Version 14.x, Apache Kafka, and enterprise application development.

The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining existing MDM implementations, developing application enhancements, supporting system integrations, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring data integrity across enterprise applications.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• 8+ years of software development experience supporting enterprise-scale applications.

• Strong hands-on experience with IBM InfoSphere MDM Version 14.x Standard Edition (Virtual MDM).

• Experience with MDM data models, entities, transactions, batch processing, configuration, customization, and troubleshooting.

• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka.

Preferred Technical Skills

• 8+ years of Java/J2EE development experience, including Java, JSP, REST, and SOAP-based services.

• 5+ years of Linux/Unix operating system experience, including command-line operations, log analysis, and system troubleshooting.

• Experience with Apache Kafka, including topic creation, configuration, producer and consumer development, and message flow troubleshooting.

• Understanding of ZooKeeper, Kafka KRaft, and Strimzi Operator.

• Experience with WildFly application server, application deployment, configuration, health checks, and runtime troubleshooting.

• Experience with Kafka integration with WildFly-based applications and IBM MDM Standard Edition.

• Strong SQL development and query optimization skills in Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.

• Linux/Unix shell scripting using Bash and PowerShell.

• Experience creating and maintaining CRON jobs and batch processing workflows.

• Experience with Git, GitHub, and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience deploying and supporting applications in cloud and OpenShift containerized environments.

• Familiarity with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.

• Exposure to Kubernetes and OpenShift.

• Experience with ELK / Elastic Stack for application log monitoring and troubleshooting.

• Experience with Flowable is a plus.

• Healthcare industry experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, enhance, and support IBM InfoSphere MDM Standard Edition (Virtual MDM) applications.

• Support Master Person Index (MPI), Michigan Index Data Stewardship Portal (MIDSP), and related applications.

• Develop and maintain MDM configurations, data models, entities, transactions, and batch processing solutions.

• Develop and support application integrations using Apache Kafka.

• Work with Linux/Unix environments and perform application-level troubleshooting.

• Develop automation scripts using Bash and PowerShell.

• Work with database administrators to develop, execute, and optimize SQL scripts.

• Support application deployments and maintenance using WildFly and related technologies.

• Monitor production and non-production environments and resolve application issues.

• Prepare functional and technical requirement documentation.

• Participate in the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

• Develop test plans, execute test cases, and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

• Track defects, incidents, and change requests.

• Coordinate with infrastructure, server, network, and database teams for maintenance and issue resolution.

• Maintain technical documentation and support application enhancements.

• Ensure application reliability, data integrity, and production stability.
