This GE HealthCare Mechanical Engineering Internship offers professional development through a challenging internship in a dynamic, fast-paced, medical technology business. The intern will work on assignments guided by technical mentors.
Job DescriptionResponsibilities:- Assist in the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical components and assemblies for diagnostic imaging equipment
- Support laboratory testing for design development, including setting up experiments, collecting data, and documenting results
- Develop and modify 3D solid models using CAD software (Creo)
- Participate in design reviews, both providing input and learning from experienced engineers
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, systems and service engineering
- Contribute to problem-solving and root cause analysis for design and manufacturing challenges
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation of work performed
Qualifications:- Current undergraduate student continuing in an accredited degree program after summer 2026, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms
- Demonstrated understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles (e.g., solid mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science)
- Strong initiative with the ability to work both independently and in teams
- Proven leadership skills through university projects, extracurriculars, or professional experience
- Willing to relocate to greater Milwaukee, WI area; relocation assistance available
- Able to work for a minimum of 10 weeks
Desired Characteristics:- Strong academic performance shown by strong GPA of 3.0 or better (based on a 4.0 scale), although all candidates are encouraged to apply
- Passion for innovation and technology development
- Proficiency with CAD software, e.g. Creo, SolidWorks, etc
- Prior experience in a lab setting or relevant internship
- Basic experience with general machine shop tools
