Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities
1. ADA / WCAG Evaluation & Remediation
- Conduct ADA Title II digital accessibility audits of websites, SharePoint pages, electronic forms, and application features.
- Remediate documents (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) consistent with internal processes, Institutional and Agency sponsored training.
- Test with assistive technologies (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver), keyboard navigation, and automated tools (ARC, Acquia, BrowserStack, Axe).
- Validate existing linked content against WCAG 2.1 AA; ensure compliance with ADA Title II expectations.
- Provide expert guidance on semantic HTML, ARIA roles, heading structures, forms, focus order, and color contrast.
- Make recommendations for technical enhancements and process improvements.
- Perform impact analysis on fixes/enhancements to determine scope and priority.
- Provide ongoing product support, including fielding detailed product questions.
3. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with business teams to translate process needs into accessible content requirements.
- Partner with developers, designers, content authors, and business teams to promote accessibility best practices
- Support enterprisewide accessibility initiatives, participate in compliance working sessions.
4. Documentation & Training
- Create accessibility remediation instructions, checklists, job aids, and userfriendly guidance materials.
Deliver training to business users, content authors, and other Agency stakeholders on accessibility standards, best-practice, and remediation processes
- Maintain documentation on accessibility processes, standards, best-practice, testing results, and remediation processes.
5. Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Stay current on DOJ ADA Title II, Section 508, WCAG, and digital accessibility trends, legislation, and enforcement.
- Ensure readiness for internal audits and external reviews (e.g., DOJ, CMS).
- Review accessibilityrelated feedback and help drive organizational improvements.
REQUIRED Skill Sets:
Product Specialist 3 must have the following skillset.
Education:
Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience:
- Strong knowledge of DOJ ADA Title II, Section 508, WCAG 2.1 AA, and accessibility laws/regulations
- 2+ years of experience performing accessibility audits and remediating digital content (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- 2+ years of experience, proficiency with accessibility testing tools: ARC toolkit, NVDA, Acquia, BrowserStack, Office365 & Adobe Acrobat integrated accessibility tools, and/or similar tools.
- 2+ years of experience working with HTML mark-up, CSS, ARIA, semantic structure, and accessible form authoring.
- 2+ years of experience reviewing technical designs for accessibility integration
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to evaluate content, identify accessibility issues, and remediate.
- Ability to produce accurate, comprehensive documentation, job aids, and user guides.
- Ability to train end-users on technical/functional tools & concepts.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong prioritization and organization skills.
- Effective collaboration skills, team player in a fast paced and rapid delivery environment.
Required excellent written and oral communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
