Position Description: CGI is looking for a Data Engineer who manages one or more data engineering projects of moderate complexity. Leads or acts as key team member in defining and builds the data pipelines that will enable faster, better, data-informed decision-making within the business. Jointly designs and implements a new big data solution which supports high amounts and velocity of data and supports future growth. Identifies latest development, testing and deployment techniques to quickly deploy new releases to e.g. deploy new data pipelines and add data sources. Takes direct reports, when applicable, through Agile Framework and its respective tools. Influences stakeholders in adopting analyses / outcomes. Acts proactively to support the business to further professionalize their MI / Analytic reporting platform, using the ESSA approach. Opinions valued by business interface. Plays a prominent role in project-related meetings etc. Utilizes business partnering in order to gather, analyze and model data and key performance indicators of the highest complexity. Working as Data Engineering Lead to develop and deploy innovative big data platforms for advanced analytics and data processing. Works independently under broad managerial supervision.
This role is based out of Houston and need to be onsite 3 days a week.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Principal Data Engineer is the one who conceptualizes and designs data foundations and end to end solutions including data platforms for the Business to maximize value from data. The role helps create a data-driven thinking within the organization, not just within IT teams, but also in the wider business stakeholder community. A Principal Data engineer is expected to be a subject matter expert, and an active thought partner in the organization's data strategy and the key driver to define the Vison and Data Strategy for robust and future ready IT solutions

Drive implementation efficiency and effectiveness across the pilots and future projects to minimize cost, increase speed of implementation and maximize value delivery.
Drives & contributes to community building initiatives like CoE, CoP.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $79,600.00 - $139,300.00.
