Google Cloud Data Engineer / Java Streaming Engineer (Google Cloud Platform)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Google Cloud Data Engineer with hands-on experience in real-time streaming data platforms and Java-based application development. This role focuses on building scalable, secure, and high-performance data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) with a strong emphasis on real-time data processing, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery, and Java microservices.

Note: This requirement is specifically for a Google Cloud Data Platform Real-Time Streaming use case. Please submit only candidates with relevant Google Cloud Platform streaming and Java development experience.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines from on-premises systems to Google Cloud Platform services, including:
  
  • BigQuery
  • Dataflow
  • Pub/Sub
  • Cloud Storage
  • Cloud Functions
  • Cloud Composer
• Build and support real-time data ingestion and processing solutions using Google Pub/Sub, Apache Kafka, and Dataflow (Apache Beam).
• Develop reusable data transformation frameworks and libraries in Python and Apache Beam, including:
  
  • Slowly Changing Dimension (SCD) processing
  • Data quality validation
  • Data masking and tokenization
  • Data enrichment and transformation
• Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance Java-based applications and microservices.
• Build RESTful APIs and enterprise applications using Java 8+, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, debugging, deployment, and production support.
• Implement CI/CD processes and DevOps best practices using tools such as:
  
  • Jenkins
  • GitHub Actions
  • Gradle
  • Git
• Create technical documentation, implementation guides, and operational runbooks.
• Collaborate with architects, data engineers, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable cloud-native solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications
Google Cloud Platform (Mandatory)

• 2-4 years of hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
• Strong experience with:
  • BigQuery
  • Dataflow
  • Pub/Sub
  • Cloud Storage
  • Cloud Composer
  • Cloud Functions

Java Development (Mandatory)

• Strong programming experience in Java 8 or higher.
• Experience with:
  • Spring Framework
  • Spring Boot
  • RESTful API development
  • Multi-threading
  • SQL

Real-Time Streaming (Mandatory)

• Hands-on experience with:
  • Google Pub/Sub
  • Apache Kafka
  • Streaming data architectures
  • Event-driven systems

Data Engineering

• Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Proficiency with Python and Apache Beam.
• Knowledge of data warehousing and large-scale data processing concepts.

DevOps & Cloud Engineering

• Experience with:
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Jenkins
  • GitHub Actions
  • Gradle
  • Git version control

Architecture

• Understanding of:
  • Microservices architecture
  • Cloud-native application design
  • Distributed systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on enterprise-scale data platforms.
• Exposure to data governance, security, and compliance practices.
• Familiarity with performance optimization and monitoring in cloud environments.
• Google Cloud certifications are a plus.

Candidate Screening Criteria (Must-Have)

Only profiles meeting the majority of the following criteria should be considered:

2-4 years of Google Cloud Platform experience
Hands-on Dataflow and Pub/Sub experience
Real-time streaming implementation experience (Kafka/PubSub)
Strong Java 8+ and Spring Boot development background
Experience with REST APIs and microservices
Python/Apache Beam development experience
CI/CD and DevOps exposure (Jenkins/GitHub Actions)
Experience building data pipelines for cloud data platforms

Location: Charlotte, NC (Onsite/Hybrid as applicable)
Experience: 2-4 Years
