job summary:
Commercial Treasury Services team is seeking an experienced Business System Analyst (Lead) who can support the technical development of Application requirements. This individual is expected to support the domain application develop by planning, managing, and leading the delivery of system requirements in alignment with standards and frameworks, working in close partnership with various partners and stakeholders.
As a Business System Analyst (Lead) the day-to-day responsibilities will be as follows:
- Collaborate with business lines to gather, analyze, and document requirements.
- Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications taking into account non-functional requirements
- Provide support/oversight and guidance in the delivery of technology requirements with focus on quality, reusability, scalability, and innovation.
- Participate in requirement discussions and user story refinement, helping with requirement clarifications and ensuring user stories are aligned with documented functional and business requirements
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with business partners and internal/external team members
- Support the writing of user stories as needed, with Acceptance criteria in Jira.
- Determine cross functional impacts and ensure that the various technology teams and partners have a solid understanding of the requirements
- Act as a BSA Lead by providing support and guidance to the BSA team
- Write detailed business and functional specifications for internal and external system interfaces.
- Lead requirements workshops and create artifacts such as data flow diagrams, process models, and message mapping documents.
- Define and document BDD-style requirements with precise acceptance criteria to guide development and validation.
- Partner with vendors, solution designers, and engineers to align on design, API behaviors, data formats, and exception handling.
- Assist in testing efforts through scenario definition, defect triage, and requirements traceability.
- Provide business context and analysis support during investigation of production issues.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of templates, standards, and integration documentation practices
- How much time is being spent in meetings : 50 % of the time
- Who are they interacting with (internal/external) - internal business and technical resources - Minimal with external vendors .
- Will the contractor have access to any customer data? Yes
Must have :
- 7+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, with direct involvement in system build and integration projects.
- Strong understanding of how systems and integrations support banking workflows.
- Experience working with a mix of integrations types: APIs, batch file transfers, and message queues.
- Familiarity with tools like Postman to test or inspect APIs and review Json/XML payloads.
- Knowledge of mainframe integration patterns, including batch processing and flat file exchanges.
- Comfort reading system logs and assisting with root cause analysis in support of Level 3 investigations.
- Experience with both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Strong documentation skills, especially with BDD-style requirements and vendor-facing specifications.
- Working knowledge of ITIL processes and change management practices in enterprise environments.
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, or equivalent.
Nice to have:
- 3+ years of experience in the Commercial Treasury business domain is preferred.
