Role : Lead Platform Engineer
Location : Cleveland, 5 days a week, full time in office

Skillset
Platform & infrastructure engineering experience: 4 6+ years supporting platformlevel infrastructure, including automated interaction with physical and cloud environments (Azure is most important)
- Cloud, DevOps, and automation expertise: Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell), experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps methodologies, Git/GitOps (e.g., ArgoCD), and Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.
- Containerization & runtime management: Handson experience with Docker and Kubernetes (including Rancher), managing cluster operations, ingress controllers (NGINX), TLS/certificate lifecycles, secrets management (e.g., Vault), and platform runtimes.
- Observability, reliability, and resilience: Proven experience with monitoring and logging tools (Nagios, Splunk, ELK, Sysdig, Fluentd, Elasticsearch), plus designing and maintaining backup, disaster recovery, and highavailability strategies.
- Strong systems and communication skills: Solid understanding of operating systems, networking, integrations, and deployment procedures, paired with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Role Overview
This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining platforms within the current technology environment. The position involves analyzing technical problems and developing solutions to maintain the integrity of the platform, which includes operating systems, hardware, and software infrastructure. The engineer will collaborate with other IT professionals to ensure all platform components are working efficiently, securely, and resiliently, supporting both cloud and on-premises systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain platform-level infrastructure, including automated interaction with physical and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to update, troubleshoot, and maintain platforms to bring new features and services into production.
- Develop strong scripting skills for automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Manage and configure DevOps tools and methodologies, including CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef).
- Oversee containerization and runtime management, including Docker, Kubernetes (Rancher), ingress controllers (NGINX), and secrets management (Vault).
- Implement and manage observability tools for monitoring, logging, and CVE scanning (e.g., Nagios, Splunk, ELK, Sysdig, Fluentd).
* Design and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in platform engineering and supporting platform-level infrastructure.
- Proven experience with cloud environments, with a strong emphasis on Azure.
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes orchestration.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps methodologies, and GitOps practices (e.g., ArgoCD).
- Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.
- Proficiency with monitoring and logging tools like Nagios, Splunk, ELK, Sysdig, and Fluentd.
- Solid understanding of operating systems, networking, integrations, and deployment procedures.
Education:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Azure Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer certification.
- Expertise in maintaining platform-level runtimes, including ingress controllers (e.g., NGINX), TLS certificate lifecycle management, and secrets management integrations (e.g., HashiCorp Vault).
