QC X-Ray Technician
1. Radiographic Inspection
Operate industrial X-ray systems to inspect sealed or sensitive pyrotechnic and explosive devices.
Interpret radiographs to identify defects such as voids, cracks, misalignments, or contamination.
Work with radiographic film or digital imaging systems (DR/CR) as appropriate.
2. Safety & Compliance
Follow all ATF, DoD, OSHA, and site-specific safety protocols for handling and imaging energetic materials.
Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards (e.g., ALARA, NRC, ANSI N43).
Maintain radiation area signage, shielding, and personal dosimetry.
3. Documentation & Quality Control
Document and log radiographic findings in accordance with quality standards and traceability requirements.
Maintain inspection records, equipment calibration logs, and safety certifications.
Support failure analysis and root cause investigations as needed.
4. Equipment Operation & Maintenance
Set up, calibrate, and maintain X-ray inspection equipment.
Monitor equipment for accuracy and report malfunctions or calibration drift.
Ensure film development (if used) is properly processed and archived.
5. Collaboration & Communication
Work with engineers, safety officers, and manufacturing staff to interpret imaging results.
Provide input on inspection protocols for new pyrotechnic product designs.
Support process improvement and hazard mitigation efforts.
