Position Summary
The ServiceNow Developer is responsible for the design, development, enhancement, and implementation of ServiceNow solutions that support enterprise business and IT service management processes. This role will focus on delivering complex platform enhancements, custom applications, workflows, and integrations while ensuring alignment with business objectives and ServiceNow best practices.
The ideal candidate will possess 5-7 years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience and be capable of providing architectural guidance and technical leadership for platform enhancements, solution design, and implementation strategies. This individual will partner with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, maintainable, and high-performing ServiceNow solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Development
- Design, develop, and enhance ServiceNow applications, modules, and workflows based on business and technical requirements.
- Lead and contribute to major platform enhancement initiatives and modernization efforts.
- Build and maintain ServiceNow components, including:
- Custom Applications
- Business Rules
- Client Scripts
- UI Policies
- Flow Designer Workflows
- Forms and Catalog Items
- Integrations (REST, SOAP, Service Graph Connectors)
- Develop scalable and maintainable solutions using ServiceNow development best practices.
- Participate in technical design discussions and provide architectural recommendations for platform enhancements.
Architecture & Technical Leadership- Provide architectural guidance and solution design recommendations across ServiceNow initiatives.
- Evaluate technical requirements and recommend scalable approaches aligned with platform best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve platform performance, maintainability, and usability.
- Support governance and development standards to ensure consistency across ServiceNow solutions.
- Collaborate with architects, stakeholders, and development teams to define technical roadmaps and solution strategies.
Requirements & Process Alignment- Partner with process owners, business stakeholders, and SMEs to understand business processes, KPIs, and operational goals.
- Translate functional requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Drive process automation and workflow optimization initiatives within the ServiceNow platform.
Integration & Platform Enhancement- Design and implement integrations with third-party systems using REST APIs, SOAP services, MID Server, and other integration technologies.
- Provide recommendations on integration architecture, security, and performance considerations.
- Support ongoing enhancement and optimization of existing ServiceNow applications and services.
Testing & Quality Assurance- Participate in solution design reviews, testing strategy, and deployment planning.
- Perform unit, integration, and system testing.
- Support UAT and production release activities.
- Ensure solutions meet quality, security, and performance standards.
Documentation & Best Practices- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including:
- Solution design documents
- Architecture diagrams
- Technical specifications
- Configuration documentation
- Ensure adherence to SDLC, change management, and security standards.
- Support knowledge sharing and documentation of development standards and best practices.
Continuous Improvement- Stay current on ServiceNow platform capabilities, releases, and emerging technologies.
- Identify opportunities to improve service delivery and user experience through platform enhancements.
- Promote ServiceNow development best practices and contribute to platform maturity initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience- Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5-7 years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience.
- Experience designing and implementing complex ServiceNow solutions and enhancements.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments (Scrum or Kanban).
Technical Skills- Strong knowledge of the ServiceNow platform and development framework.
- Experience with ServiceNow modules such as:
- ITSM
- ITOM
- HRSD
- CSM
- Custom Applications
- Proficiency with:
- JavaScript
- Glide APIs (GlideRecord, GlideSystem, GlideAjax, etc.)
- Flow Designer
- IntegrationHub
- ServiceNow Studio
- Service Portal
- Experience developing and supporting integrations using REST, SOAP, and MID Server technologies.
- Strong understanding of ServiceNow security, ACLs, and platform governance.
Architecture Experience (Preferred)- Experience contributing to or leading ServiceNow solution architecture and design efforts.
- Ability to provide technical direction and architectural recommendations for complex ServiceNow implementations and enhancements.
- Understanding of platform scalability, design patterns, and enterprise integration strategies.
Certifications- Active ServiceNow certification preferred, including one or more of:
- Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- Certified Application Developer (CAD)
- Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS)

- Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
