Position Summary

The Cloud Architect is responsible for driving the cloud-centric architecture approach for our managed services offering while maintaining security best practices and improving operational efficiencies. This role works collaboratively with Solution Architects, Software Architects, Security, Product Management, and Operations teams to align, design, implement, test, deploy, secure, and automate infrastructure services that deliver SaaS-based solutions on Azure and AWS.

Responsibilities

Develop cloud reference architectures for various deployment topologies.
Document architectural guiding principles and standardize specifications for the managed services offering.
Assess, design, implement, automate, and document security solutions and processes to meet compliance requirements.
Partner with Security Operations teams to define and implement cloud security best practices.
Develop baseline cloud, container, and application security standards with key stakeholders.
Develop cost and utilization tracking and attribution processes for cloud service providers.
Develop and maintain documentation for cloud security systems and procedures.
Drive Proof of Concept (POC) and Proof of Technology initiatives while evaluating, selecting, and integrating innovative technologies.
Generate detailed documentation including:

Conceptual Design, Logical Design, Physical Design, Bill of Materials (BOM), As-built Diagrams, Knowledge Transfer Materials, FAQs & Transition-to-Operations documentation

Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) throughout project lifecycle from initiation through implementation.
Lead C-Level and Executive briefing presentations covering technology roadmap, solution direction, and alignment with business and IT objectives.
Evangelize cloud technology vision, strategy, solutions, and best practices across the organization.
Provide multi-cloud thought leadership.
Collaborate with Operations teams to remove technical roadblocks and improve operational efficiency.
Ensure accurate reporting of project hours and utilization.
Track billable hours as required.
Comply with privacy, security, and confidentiality policies.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or another IT-related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience identifying security issues, assessing risks, and developing mitigation plans to satisfy audit requirements.
Experience with HL7 and FHIR.
Deep expertise with hyperscale cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform.
Experience with interconnect and colocation (colo) providers.
Strong understanding of application architectures and cloud migration/refactoring strategies.
Experience presenting complex technical architectures to both executive leadership and technical teams.
Deep understanding of cloud architecture best practices.
Formal cloud certification (Azure Security Certification preferred).
Extensive experience securing:

Operating Systems, Firewalls, Networks, Systems, Databases & Application Architectures

Knowledge of regulatory frameworks including:

HIPAA, HITRUST & ISO Standards

Experience with:

Antivirus Solutions, IDS/IPS, Web Application Firewalls (WAF), Network Security Groups (NSG), Azure ExpressRoute & Application Firewalls

Strong networking and infrastructure security knowledge.
Advanced expertise with cloud services including:

Databases, Containers, Compute, Storage & Serverless

Experience managing database platforms including:

MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB & Elasticsearch

Experience with Identity and Access Management protocols:

PIM, OAuth & OpenID

Experience performing Threat Modeling.
Experience with Data Center Architecture including:

Routing Protocols (ISIS, OSPF, BGP, PIM, MPLS, SDN/OpenFlow)
Switching Technologies (TRILL, LACP, STP)
Firewalls
Intrusion Prevention Systems
VMware and KVM Virtualization
Storage Technologies (Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS)
Internet Connectivity
IT Business Drivers
