Position Overview:
We are seeking a high-caliber Lead Full Stack Developer with 8 to 10 years of experience and deep insurance domain expertise to drive the modernization of our core platform. In this role, you will architect scalable backend systems using Spring Boot, build highly responsive frontends using React.js, and deploy them onto AWS.
As a technical leader, you will own the delivery of complex enterprise workflows—spanning quoting, policy administration, billing, and claims processing. You will lead a fully remote team, champion engineering best practices, and translate intricate insurance rules into clean, production-ready software.
Core Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Full-Stack Cloud Architecture: Architect, build, and deploy secure, high-performance web applications leveraging React.js for responsive frontends and Java/Spring Boot microservices hosted on AWS.
Insurance Platform Engineering: Design and scale robust backend systems that process complex insurance logic, including rating engines, policy administration, claims routing, and automated underwriting rules.
Modern Frontend Engineering: Construct modular, reusable UI components in React.js, implementing clean state management patterns to simplify complex, multi-step insurance quote-and-bind workflows.
Data & Integration Engineering: Design secure database models (SQL/NoSQL) optimized for policyholder and claims data. Integrate third-party insurance APIs, data providers, and legacy core systems.
Cloud Infrastructure & CI/CD Mastery: Build and maintain automated deployment pipelines (CI/CD) targeting AWS infrastructure utilizing containerized ecosystems (Docker, Amazon ECS/EKS) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
Enterprise Security & Compliance: Configure robust authentication and authorization layers leveraging Spring Security alongside modern protocols (OAuth2, OIDC) to ensure strict compliance with insurance data regulations (HIPAA, SOC 2, or PCI-DSS).
Performance Tuning & Monitoring: Proactively profile application components to eliminate frontend bottlenecks, optimize backend execution paths, and tune slow database queries using AWS CloudWatch or APM tools.
Distributed Team Leadership: Drive technical alignment across a 100% remote engineering team, mentor mid-level developers, and partner closely with Insurance Product Owners to turn business logic into scalable code.
Qualifications:
Experience: 8–10 years of professional full-stack development experience, with a strict minimum of 3+ years within the Insurance, InsurTech, or FinTech sectors.
Backend Mastery: Deep expertise in Java and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data).
Frontend Mastery: Production experience building large-scale applications with React.js, React Hooks, and modern state management.
AWS Expertise: Proven track record deploying microservices to AWS (ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB).
Domain Knowledge:
Strong understanding of insurance lifecycles (Quote-to-Card, policy lifecycle, billing, or claims processing)
