Summary

job summary:

We are seeking an experienced Performance Engineer Lead to join our technology team in Orlando, FL. In this role, you will lead the definition and execution of performance testing strategies, application monitoring, and cloud elasticity analysis across mission-critical systems. You will collaborate directly with cross-functional architecture, development, and SRE teams to embed proactive performance engineering throughout the software delivery lifecycle.

responsibilities:

  • Design, script, and execute load, stress, scalability, and endurance tests using JMeter and custom Java/Groovy scripts.
  • Establish performance SLAs, KPIs, and baseline metrics in alignment with architectural and business goals.
  • Utilize APM and observability tools (AppDynamics, CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Splunk) to analyze metrics and isolate root causes of application and infrastructure bottlenecks.
  • Test resource utilization, failover, and auto-scaling policies across AWS services (ECS, EKS, EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS).
  • Build performance test automation frameworks and integrate test execution into CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
  • Develop custom performance testing utilities and data parsing scripts using Python and Java.



qualifications:

10+ years of dedicated performance engineering experience.


Proven expertise with Apache JMeter, including custom extension scripting using Java, Groovy, or BeanShell.


Extensive background testing performance and scalability within AWS cloud environments (ECS, EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS).


Hands-on proficiency with enterprise APM and monitoring tools (AppDynamics, CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Splunk).


Solid coding and scripting background in Java and Python for framework buildout and automation.


Bachelor's degree / Graduation completed.


Ability to work on-site in Orlando, FL on a hybrid schedule (4 days in office, 1 day remote).


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


Practical background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) methodologies.


Architecture experience in Microservices environments.


Exposure to AI/LLM models for engineering process optimization.


Experience with Serenity for Test Data Management and qTest/JIRA for tracking.
