Job Summary
The Senior Staff Accountant supports and oversees day-to-day accounting operations using a cloud-based ERP system. This role is responsible for general ledger management, financial reporting, month-end close, and mentoring junior accounting staff. The ideal candidate has strong GAAP knowledge, ERP experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Please note that this position is performed ONSITE (8480 Honeycut Road/Executive Office Suites, Raleigh, NC).

Job Summary
The Senior Staff Accountant supports and oversees day-to-day accounting operations using a cloud-based ERP system. This role is responsible for general ledger management, financial reporting, month-end close, and mentoring junior accounting staff. The ideal candidate has strong GAAP knowledge, ERP experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Please note that this position is performed ONSITE (8480 Honeycut Road/Executive Office Suites, Raleigh, NC).
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger, bank accounts, accruals, and prepaids
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
- Prepare internal and external financial statements and management reports
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Develop and improve accounting procedures and ERP processes
- Train, mentor, and review work of Staff and Junior Accountants
- Serve as escalation point for complex accounting issues
- Coordinate with internal teams and external auditors
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's preferred)
- 6+ years of accounting experience
- Strong GAAP and general ledger experience
- Proficiency with cloud-based ERP systems (Oracle NetSuite a plus)
- Advanced Excel skills and Microsoft Office proficiency
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Government contracting experience
- ERP system implementation or optimization experience
- Audit and compliance support experience

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance is required, Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus.
- Must possess 6+ years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Government Contract experience is a plus.
- Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite skills with high functioning level of spreadsheets and must be able to excel in the comprehension and functionality of a Financial System based ERP software.
- Oracle NetSuite experience is a plus.
- Must possess strong technical background in the area specified, strong analytical skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
