Job Duties:
  • Research, design, develop, or test computer or computer-related equipment for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use.
  • Design and develop computer hardware and support peripherals, including central processing units (CPUs), support logic, microprocessors, custom integrated circuits, and printers and disk drives.
  • Confer with engineering staff and consult specifications to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of overall system.
  • Build, test, and modify product prototypes, using working models or theoretical models constructed with computer simulation.
  • Write detailed functional specifications that document the hardware development process and support hardware introduction.
  • Test and verify hardware and support peripherals to ensure that they meet specifications and requirements, by recording and analyzing test data.
  • Design and optimize standard cells for power, performance and area (PPA) optimization of foundry processes.
  • Use Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools for standard cell characterization.
  • Create layout for test structures to monitor foundry process.
  • Conduct comprehensive verification of standard cells (LVS, DRC) and implement required fixes.
  • Extract parasitics and validate timing.
  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Consult with customers or other departments on project status, proposals, or technical issues, such as software system design or maintenance.
  • Coordinate installation of software system.
  • Design, develop, and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
  • Prepare reports or correspondence concerning project specifications, activities, or status.
  • Store, retrieve, and manipulate data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements.
  • Interface with Virtuoso platform for UI integration.
  • Implement core algorithms in Cadence proprietary language.
  • Run QA and check generated results against provided golden layout.
  • Create an interactive report to enable designers to choose most optimal layouts.
  • Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system.
  • Work with layout engineers to understand specifications of device placement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
  • Cadence Virtuoso for custom IC design and layout development
  • Pegasus tool for physical verification tasks
  • Quantus Extraction Solution for performance analysis and evaluation
  • Liberty Timing Model generation
  • Library Exchange Format (LEF)/Design Exchange Format (DEF) file formats
  • Automation using TCL, Python, and Cadence SKILL
  • Finfet and gate-all-around (GAA) Technology Nodes
  • Design Rule Manual Interpretation
