Summary

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Infrastructure Technician to support remediation and standardization efforts across IDF/MDF network closets. This role focuses on improving durability, redundancy, organization, and documentation of conditioned spaces. The ideal candidate has strong data center fundamentals, experience with power equipment (UPS/PDU/ATS), and enjoys structured, process-driven work.
This contract requires daily travel throughout Burbank to Orange County, with occasional out-of-state travel (1-2 times per month).

Key Responsibilities

1. IDF Closet Audits & Environmental Evaluation

Conduct detailed assessments to support remediation planning and accurate documentation:
  • Complete assessment documents (device models, names, serial numbers, etc.)
  • Identify differences between existing conditions and target standards for power and cooling
  • Evaluate:
    • Physical room layout, access, and space
    • Racks, cable management, mounting hardware
    • Cooling load, capacity, and redundancy
    • Power infrastructure (types, sources, dual power availability)
    • Rack-mounted power components (UPS/PDU/ATS): age, capacity, utilization, viability
    • Network/compute equipment: IP ranges, device types, power connections, redundancy, obsolete hardware
  • Capture clear, specific photos of rooms, racks, and components
  • Document points of contact (administrators, facilities managers, supervisors, caregivers)
  • Identify staging/storage areas near each IDF

Populate and update SharePoint documentation for all closets.

2. Develop Remediation Plans

Based on audit findings, create actionable remediation packages:
  • Draft Scope of Work (removals, relocations, installations)
  • Build detailed Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Obtain vendor quotes, timelines, and funding approvals
  • Procure equipment

3. Implementation Planning

Prepare clear, actionable plans for remediation work:
  • Document site descriptions and room details
  • List items to be removed, moved, or installed
  • Identify devices and applications affected by downtime
  • Coordinate with relevant hospital departments and POCs
  • Draft STANDARD and NORMAL change orders
  • Negotiate downtime windows with stakeholders
  • Finalize plans and submit to leadership and CAB for approval

4. Logistics Management

Ensure smooth coordination throughout the project:
  • Track all orders, shipments, receipts, and inventory
  • Ensure receiving personnel are aware of deliveries
  • Coordinate temporary storage and equipment movement
  • Work with facilities to clear and prepare IDF spaces
  • (remove trash and non-IS materials if needed)
  • Ensure spaces are clean and ready for work

5. Staging & Preparation

Prepare equipment prior to scheduled outages:
  • Unbox, label, add phase tape, mount ears, pre-stage cables
  • Move equipment from storage into IDF closets
  • Review the implementation plan and change orders
  • Rack & stack power equipment (UPS/ATS/PDU)
  • Connect to network, assign IPs, and document in EcoStruxure
  • Migrate dual-corded devices (no downtime)
  • Prepare for single-corded device cutovers to new ATS hardware

6. Installation & Cutover Work

Support power equipment upgrades and cabling improvements:
  • Provide dual power sources for all MDF/IDF devices
  • Install secondary power supply modules (when applicable)
  • Re-dress power cables using R/Y/B phase tape & proper labeling
  • Install cabling in vertical and horizontal pathways with uniformity
  • Perform cable cleanup using velcro and proper strain relief
  • Conduct cutovers for single-corded equipment (approx. 5 minutes per switch; 2-5 switches per closet)
  • Verify services are restored before moving to next IDF

Work primarily occurs during the day, with occasional evening/early morning work depending on department needs.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $50.00/hr.
