Avionics Technician III

Introduction:

As an Avionics Technician III, you will be responsible for installing, inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing avionics equipment and systems. You will also perform equipment setup and maintenance activities, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to project timelines. Your role will involve using precision measurement tools, fabricating fixtures, and adhering to general best shop practices.

Responsibilities:

• Install, inspect, test, adjust, and repair avionics equipment and systems
• Perform equipment setup and maintenance activities
• Use precision measurement tools to fabricate fixtures for use
• Adhere to general best shop practices, including PPE and shop safety requirements
• Apply 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness in daily tasks
• Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to project timelines
• Document and report any issues or discrepancies found during inspections and tests

Requirements:

Required Skills:

• J STD 001 certification
• IPC 620 certification
• 5+ years of related experience
• Familiarity with general best shop practices
• Ability to perform basic equipment setup and maintenance activities
• Display general mechanical aptitude and hand tool competency
• Ability to use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures
• Ability to learn and perform precision cleaning and chemistry processes
• Ability to learn 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness
• Ability to demonstrate correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware

Preferred Skills:

• Formal training, degree, or certification in avionics, electronics, or a related technical field
• Certification: Airman''s certificate, FCC license, or IPC level certification
• Experience with avionics systems and equipment
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Familiarity with avionics testing equipment
• Knowledge of software tools for diagnostics and troubleshooting of avionics systems
• Understanding of RF principles and their application in avionics systems
• Experience with soldering and crimping techniques for avionics wiring and connectors
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
