Description Software Developer II (Middleware, Python, Django, Java RESTful)Hybrid - Washington, DC43-Week Contract Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Software Developer II with hands-on experience in middleware applications, Python, Django, and Java RESTful services. This role supports application development, configuration, testing, and ongoing operational readiness for enterprise systems, including applications hosted in AWS environments. The ideal candidate demonstrates solid technical capabilities, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across development, QA, and business teams.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain software applications in alignment with business and technical requirements.
- Follow standardized quality assurance procedures and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Support testing efforts and implement fixes as needed.
- Monitor and maintain middleware application performance, including applications deployed in AWS.
- Identify and recommend enhancements to improve functionality or simplify system administration.
- Plan and facilitate application changes, including defect resolution, enhancements, and configuration updates.
- Configure and test system components such as workflows, reports, security roles, and access controls.
- Coordinate and apply configuration changes in production environments.
- Collaborate closely with BA and QA teams to develop test plans, validate functionality, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Work under general supervision while managing a variety of tasks and deadlines.
Requirements Required Skills & Experience- Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Approximately 3-5 years of experience in software development or a related area.
- Strong understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within software development.
- Experience mentoring team members and supporting best practices in coding, design, and implementation.
- Service Development: Moderate-level experience building scalable SOAP and RESTful services.
- Java/Spring: Proficiency with the Core Spring Framework and related components (Spring JMS, Spring Security, Spring Data, Spring Integration).
- Skilled in building and consuming modern REST web services.
- Experience with scripting languages (Python and/or Ruby).
- Familiarity with API consumption, HTTP, and TCP/IP communication.
- Ability to apply creativity and independent judgment; typically reports to a project leader or manager.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience working with middleware applications in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
- Exposure to enterprise-level development environments and collaborative teams.
