Summary

Title: CNC Machinist

Location: Fort Worth, TX

Duration: Contract

 

Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate a variety of CNC and conventional lathes/mills for complex and close-tolerance production work.
  • Run multiple machines simultaneously and adapt tooling and machining techniques as required.
  • Create, prove out, and edit standard machining programs using I.G.F. software.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, complex drawings, engineering specifications, charts, tables, sketches, and work instructions.
  • Perform complex machine setups, including multiple workpiece stations and
  • custom/standard work holding devices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining, tooling, and process issues.
  • Work closely with Engineering to resolve drawing errors and recommend design or process improvements.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes with limited documentation.
  • Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, comparators, surface plates, and CMMs as required.
  • Perform SPC activities and ensure parts meet quality and dimensional requirements.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to maintain equipment accuracy, cleanliness, and reliability.
  • Apply advanced shop mathematics, including trigonometry, and knowledge of metal characteristics.
  • Train and mentor less-experienced machinists.
  • Contribute to Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience in high-technology manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to set up and operate at least five different types of CNC machines.
  • Strong experience with precision machining and complex setups.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of advanced shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
  • Experience troubleshooting machining and process issues.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to quality, precision, and safety.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience mentoring or training junior team members is preferred.
  • Lean/continuous improvement experience is a plus.
