Title: Core Network System Engineer
Location : Washington, Oregon, Montana and Idaho
Core Network Systems Engineer should have demonstrable experience in assessing, designing and maintaining network and server infrastructure, including planning, evaluating, coordinating and performing installation and reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data communications. Maintains technical expertise in network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, firewalls and switches.
The role requires providing regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-term planning, including disaster recovery. Develops, tests and implements solutions that support current and future needs. Creates and maintains appropriate network polices, including operational, troubleshooting, and escalation guides in addition to architecture documentation and dataflow.

Network & Infrastructure Support
- Troubleshoots complex network issue on the corporate network.
- Maintains, supports and administers servers, local/wide area network (LAN/WAN), Wireless and VPN technologies.
- Identifies and resolves connectivity problems between systems and works with vendors in troubleshooting and supporting systems and services.
- Performs the installation, configuration, management, upgrade and modification of network switches, routers, firewalls, Network Load Balancers, Wireless, VPN and other related infrastructure technologies.
- Supports the installation, configuration, management, upgrade and modification of servers including Hypervisor Hosts, Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Works with Vendors to implement remote L2L IPsec tunnels and facilitate access to necessary vendor-based applications and services.
- Configures and maintains systems, install, upgrade and maintains hardware and software.
Customer & Vendor Support / Collaboration
- Provides hardware and software support to IT personnel, customers and offices.
- Communicates with internal customers, vendors and IT personnel to complete projects.
- Works with vendors to obtain quotes and purchase hardware, software, support and other IT related equipment and services within allotted budget.
- Travels to remote sites as needed to complete projects.
Documentation & Process Management
- Creates and maintains documentation to record network and hardware topologies.
- Develops and maintains documentations
Security, Compliance & Work Requirements
- Understands and agrees to role-specific information security access and responsibilities.
- Ensures safety and confidentiality of data and systems by adhering to the organizations information security policies.
- Reads, understands and agrees to security policies and complete all annual security and compliance training.
- Must be available to work regular business hours Pacific Standard Time.
- Must also be available to work on-call, evenings and weekends as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience managing local and wide area networks, communications systems, and related software and hardware in a multi platform environment, including configuring, installing, and troubleshooting switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Proficient with Linux, Windows server, YAML, Ansible, shell scripting, etc.
- Prior experience NMS, Radius and TACACS.
- Proficient working with Hypervisors -VMware ESXi, XenServer and Proxmox.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex networking issues.
- Experience with DNS, DHCP and IP addressing management and subnetting.
- Working knowledge of Virtual LANs and trunking protocol, ACLs, IPsec tunnels and their implementation.
- Experienced with configuring and troubleshooting routing/switching technologies including TCP/IP, HSRP, VRRP, BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, 802.1q, IPsec (ESP, AH, IKE), DNS, DHCP, TACACS, and Radius in an enterprise class environment.
- Operational experience with configuring/troubleshooting Switches, Routers, Firewalls, VPN, and Wireless technologies including: Cisco, Juniper, F5 BIG-IP (LTM, DNS/GTM, Access/AMP), Fortinet/Fortigate, pfSense/Netgate.
- Experience with various equipment assets and circuit inventory systems required.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documents such as vendor deployment guidelines, white papers and configuration manuals.
- Desired Education: B.S. / B.A. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems. Experience and professional certification such as: Security+, CCNA (routing/switching), Security +, Network+ and DoD 8570.1, MCSE certifications may qualify in lieu of degree.
