These positions support complex system architecture, requirements development, hardware/software interface definition, system integration, verification, and test. Candidates should be comfortable working across systems, software, electrical, and mechanical engineering disciplines and applying MBSE methodologies to complex Department of Defense systems.

Multiple experience levels may be considered based on the candidate's background and the specific program assignment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform systems engineering activities including technical planning, requirements development, system architecture, system integration, verification and validation, and technical risk analysis.
  • Develop and decompose system-level requirements and allocate requirements to hardware and software elements.
  • Develop system architectures, functional decompositions, behaviors, interfaces, and interface control documentation.
  • Use MBSE methodologies and SysML to model complex system behaviors and interfaces.
  • Use Cameo/MSOSA and DOORS to develop and manage system-level behaviors, requirements, hardware/software interfaces, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Define and analyze hardware-to-software interfaces.
  • Support mechanical and electrical hardware design and interface definition.
  • Analyze electrical schematics, electrical ICDs, circuit diagrams, and FPGA logic or logic-gate diagrams.
  • Support hardware integration, testing, and hardware fault analysis.
  • Perform functional analyses, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies.
  • Develop test plans and verification plans and track verification status.
  • Coordinate with software, hardware, test, and other cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Work within Agile development environments using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Support customer technical discussions and briefings.
  • Mentor engineering team members as appropriate to assignment and experience level.
  • Interface with subcontractors and external stakeholders as required.
Required Qualifications

Candidates will be considered at multiple levels. Typical education/experience combinations include:

  • Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of related experience; Master's degree in STEM with 1+ year of related experience; or PhD in STEM.
  • Senior Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 8+ years of related experience; Master's degree in STEM with 6+ years of related experience; or PhD in STEM with 4+ years of related experience.

Successful candidates should possess a combination of the following based on assignment:

  • Systems engineering experience involving system architecture, functional decomposition, requirements development/allocation, integration, and verification.
  • Strong MBSE experience.
  • Experience using Cameo/MSOSA and SysML.
  • Experience using DOORS for requirements development and management.
  • Experience defining hardware/software interfaces and developing or working with ICDs.
  • Hardware engineering background involving hardware/software interfaces, mechanical and/or electrical hardware design, hardware interfaces, testing, or hardware fault analysis.
  • Experience developing test and verification plans and tracking verification status.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% depending on assignment.

Clearance requirements vary by assignment. Candidates must, at minimum, be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance with an Interim Secret required to start for applicable positions. Some assignments require a current, active, in-scope DoD Secret clearance at the time of application and start date.
