Summary

Koniag Professional Services LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Data Management Specialist to support KPS and our government customer in Atlanta, GA. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity

The Data Management Specialist will provide comprehensive data management services supporting federal grant administration programs. The specialist will be responsible for ensuring data integrity across multiple systems, maintaining workflow tracking solutions, and supporting federal personnel with accurate, reliable data management. This is an ONSITE position required to be performed at one of the Regional Office locations (Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, or Washington DC), with telework available upon approval.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide advanced support in project management and analysis within an organization
  • Develop project plans, tracking project progress, analyzing project data, preparing project reports, and identifying potential project risks and opportunities
  • Assist in project budgeting, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication
  • Conduct comprehensive data quality oversight and implementing validation procedures to ensure accurate, reliable data across all systems
  • Review existing data systems to identify inaccurate data and improperly maintained records, developing corrective action plans
  • Develop and implement processes for ongoing data quality monitoring and continuous improvement
  • Apply data governance principles and best practices to establish organizational data standards
  • Establish and maintain data quality standards, metrics, and key performance indicators
  • Perform regular data audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and federal requirements
  • Maintain and support workflow tracking solutions, ensuring seamless integration with federal systems through data pipelines, APIs, and data transformation processes
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, coordinate system updates, and maintain comprehensive documentation and user guides
  • Enter, update, and maintain accurate data in databases, spreadsheets, and applications, ensuring up-to-date grant information and compliance with federal records requirements
  • Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to identify data quality issues and implement effective solutions
  • Promote data alignment and consistency across multiple systems and support metadata management initiatives
  • Track grant administration workflows, including applications, enrollment reporting, issues, corrective actions, and monitoring activities
  • Create and maintain data assets, develop tracking tools (email lists, schedules, and timelines), and provide comprehensive reporting support
  • Coordinate workflows across teams and regions, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks and inefficiencies
  • Ensure compliance with federal records management regulations and maintain official records in accordance with federal standards
  • Assist in reporting quarterly performance metrics to federal stakeholders
  • Provide technical support for data management tools and platforms to federal staff and regional offices
  • Coordinate with Data Analysts, Data Engineers, and other technical team members on data projects
  • Support ad hoc data projects as assigned by management
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for operational systems and processes
  • Deliver training and guidance to end users on data management tools and best practices
  • Complete annual mandatory federal training requirements
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Travel within and outside the Region to conduct site visits, attend meetings, conferences, and training as required

Position Requirements:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in information management, library science, or a related field from an accredited university or college

Required Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant post-baccalaureate professional experience directly related to data management tasks
  • Experience with data quality assurance and validation methodologies
  • Knowledge of data governance principles and practical applications
  • Experience with document management systems
  • Metadata management experience
  • U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance
  • Proven ability to maintain close attention to detail and accuracy in all work products
  • Exceptional professional communication skills, both written and oral, with ability to interact effectively with federal personnel
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis functions
  • Advanced proficiency in Smartsheet for project management and workflow tracking
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with web-based collaboration tools and platforms
  • Proficiency with data quality tools and validation techniques
  • Strong skills in data cleaning, documentation, and records management
  • Basic SQL knowledge for database queries and data extraction
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve data quality issues
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Willingness to complete mandatory federal training requirements
  • Ability to pass required background investigations for access to federal facilities and systems
  • Flexibility to travel within and outside the Region as needed to conduct site visits, attend meetings, conferences, and training

Desired Skills and Competencies:
  • Experience working in a federal government environment, particularly with federal grant programs
  • Knowledge of federal records management regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience with federal data systems and integration platforms
  • Familiarity with Head Start, HHS, or other federal social services grant programs
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Advanced SQL knowledge
  • Experience with API integration and data pipeline development
  • Project management certification or experience
  • Training or instructional design experience
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Experience with change management processes
  • Understanding of information security principles and practices
