Job Title: Embedded IoT Solution Engineer
Location: Mountain View, CA (Hybrid)
Duration: Long Term
Senior IoT Solutions Engineer to drive chipset/module enablement, firmware support, reference designs, customer integration and developer enablement for its standards-based satellite connectivity platform. The engineer should be able to take an IoT device from unboxing through a validated NB-IoT NTN attach and data session with minimal ongoing engineering support.
Primary Responsibilities
· Chipset & module bring-up: network attach, provisioning, firmware validation, AT-command behaviour and certification support (GCF/PTCRB where relevant).
· Reference designs and integration guides for OEMs across IoT, automotive and enterprise.
· Optimize applications for NB-NTN constraints such as link budget, latency, duty cycle, PSM, eDRX and RAI.
· Own reference architectures, debug tooling, integration guides and technical support playbooks.
· Deep expertise in NB-NTN radio behaviour: link budget, Doppler compensation, timing advance, satellite visibility/pass windows and store-and-forward vs. real-time modes.
· Own TN ↔️ NTN switching and network selection behaviour, including PLMN selection, RRC state behaviour and device-side configuration.
· Guide customers on NIDD via NEF/SCEF/T6a and constrained protocols such as CoAP, LwM2M, MQTT and MQTT-SN.
· Design/validate end-to-end device-to-cloud data flows using platforms such as AWS IoT or Azure IoT.
· Own IP networking to the customer: APN, IP addressing, DNS, routing, firewall/NAT, IPsec/VPN and private/dedicated connectivity; GTP/GRX/IPX awareness is a plus.
· Build/consume REST APIs, webhooks and network-exposure APIs such as NEF/SCEF/CAMARA-style interfaces.
· Act as top-tier technical escalation for module vendors, OEMs and enterprise customers; reproduce and root-cause issues across device, RAN, core and application layers.
· Create developer enablement assets: reference implementations, quick-start guides, sample code and technical integration patterns.
· Improve self-service OEM/developer trial workflows and reduce friction/support dependency.
Must-Have Technical Skills
· 5+ years relevant experience in IoT Solutions Engineering, Embedded Systems, Field Applications Engineering or similar customer-facing technical engineering.
· Strong hands-on C/C++ embedded development, RTOS and cellular module bring-up.
· Strong cellular IoT knowledge: registration, attach sequences, SIM/eSIM, PLMN selection and packet data.
· Strong NB-IoT and NB-NTN knowledge, including 3GPP Release 17, RRC, NAS, PSM/eDRX and RAI.
· Hands-on chipset/module experience. Examples named in the requirement: Qualcomm 9205S/212S, Sony Altair, Sequans, MediaTek; Quectel, u-blox, Murata, Fibocom and Telit.
· Practical RAN/RF understanding: link budgets, RF debugging, coverage and interference.
· Modem-log and packet-level debugging using QXDM/QCAT or equivalent, AT commands and PCAP analysis.
· Real-device experience with TN ↔️ NTN switching / network-selection behavior.
· Application/full-stack skills: CoAP, LwM2M, MQTT-SN, NIDD, embedded C, Python and cloud/API integration.
· Hands-on AWS IoT or Azure IoT experience, including device-to-cloud pipelines and connected-device identity/security.
· Strong IP networking: APN, IP addressing, DNS, routing, NAT/firewall and secure interconnects.
· REST APIs and webhooks; NEF/SCEF and CAMARA familiarity strongly desirable.
· Preferred Qualifications
· NB-IoT NTN, satellite IoT, 3GPP standards or roaming experience.
· Wireshark, signaling analytics, BigQuery or developer-portal experience.
· Track record of creating developer documentation that reduces support tickets.
Ideal Candidate Profile
· Hands-on engineer rather than a purely presales/solution-design profile.
· Strong combination of embedded + modem + cellular/RAN + NTN + cloud/networking expertise.
· Able to independently troubleshoot across the complete stack: device → modem/RAN → core → IP/network →cloud/application.
· Comfortable working directly with OEMs, module/chipset vendors and enterprise customers.
· Strong technical documentation and developer enablement capability.
