Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Purview Architect to lead the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise-wide data governance, information protection, compliance, and data catalog solutions using Microsoft Purview. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Azure cloud services, data governance frameworks, Microsoft 365 Compliance, and enterprise security architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise-scale Microsoft Purview solutions.

• Architect and deploy Microsoft Purview Data Map, Data Catalog, Data Estate Insights, and Data Lineage.

• Develop and maintain enterprise data governance strategies, standards, and best practices.

• Configure automated data discovery, classification, sensitivity labels, and metadata management.

• Implement Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, Retention, and Compliance policies.

• Integrate Microsoft Purview with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake Storage, Power BI, and other enterprise platforms.

• Design scalable data governance architecture for structured and unstructured data.

• Collaborate with security, compliance, infrastructure, and business teams to define governance policies.

• Develop architecture diagrams, solution blueprints, and technical documentation.

• Lead technical workshops, architecture reviews, and client discussions.

• Optimize Purview scanning performance, metadata ingestion, and lineage capabilities.

• Ensure compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, PCI-DSS, and other regulatory requirements.

• Provide technical leadership and mentor engineering teams on Microsoft Purview best practices.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in Data Governance, Azure Cloud, or Data Architecture.

• 3+ years of hands-on Microsoft Purview implementation and architecture experience.

• Strong expertise in:

  • Microsoft Purview

  • Azure Data Factory (ADF)

  • Azure Synapse Analytics

  • Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2)

  • Azure SQL Database

  • Microsoft Fabric

  • Power BI

  • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)

• Experience with:

  • Data Catalog

  • Data Lineage

  • Business Glossary

  • Metadata Management

  • Data Classification

  • Sensitivity Labels

  • Data Loss Prevention (DLP)

  • Microsoft Information Protection (MIP)

  • eDiscovery

  • Records Management

• Knowledge of enterprise security and governance frameworks.

• Strong understanding of RBAC, networking, managed identities, and Azure security.

• Experience integrating Purview with third-party data sources.

• Familiarity with REST APIs, PowerShell, ARM/Bicep, or Terraform is a plus.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

• Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals

• Microsoft Purview-related implementation experience

• TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification (preferred)

Nice to Have

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric Governance

• Experience with Databricks

• Knowledge of Collibra or Informatica Data Governance

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions

• PowerShell or Python automation experience

Education

• Bachelor''''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

• Master''''s degree is a plus.
