This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role focused on modernizing legacy applications while actively contributing code. The ideal candidate brings deep Microsoft-stack engineering expertise, strong solution design experience, and the ability to weigh technical tradeoffs while executing at a high level.

This role blends technical leadership, solution design, and hands-on development. You will lead modernization efforts across the accounting pillar while collaborating closely with data architecture and infrastructure teams.

This position reports directly to senior leadership and will play a key role in shaping future architecture and technical strategy.

Responsibilities:

Lead the technical design and modernization of legacy accounting applications across the Microsoft technology stack.

Create solution architecture documentation including technical designs, system workflows, and phased modernization roadmaps.

Evaluate legacy VBA, .NET, macro-based, and SQL-driven systems and recommend realistic modernization strategies.

Weigh technical tradeoffs and clearly document pros and cons of emerging technologies and platform options.

Serve as the hands-on technical lead, contributing directly to development while guiding overall system direction.

Support Q2 data migration initiatives in close partnership with Data Architecture and Infrastructure teams.

Develop, refactor, and optimize applications using .NET, SQL Server, and Python.

Design and support data pipelines using Azure-native services, Microsoft Fabric where applicable, and Airflow.

Collaborate with Power BI teams to ensure proper data integration and reporting alignment.

Ensure all development aligns with enterprise standards for security, scalability, and performance.

Partner with leadership to prioritize modernization efforts across the accounting pillar.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers and cross-functional technical partners.

Participate in technical planning, documentation, and long-term platform strategy discussions.

Contribute to additional duties and modernization initiatives as required.

Qualifications:

10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a strong focus on the Microsoft technology stack.

Advanced expertise in .NET and SQL Server development.

Proven experience modernizing legacy applications in enterprise environments.

Strong background in technical solution design and architecture documentation.

Experience working in Azure-native environments.

Working knowledge of Python, data pipelines, and workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow.

Understanding of Microsoft Fabric and Power BI integrations preferred.

Prior experience supporting accounting, finance, or enterprise business systems highly preferred.

Ability to balance hands-on development with technical leadership responsibilities.

Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Ability to operate as a technical lead while executing complex modernization initiatives.
