Title Azure Cloud Security Architect

Job Description:
This role is responsible for hands-on ownership and execution of security and compliance certifications, including HITRUST and other regulatory frameworks. The individual will act as the daytoday driver of certification readiness, evidence management, control validation, and auditor engagement working closely with security, IT, cloud, and application teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage security certifications endtoend, including HITRUST and related frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001 as applicable)
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for certification readiness, assessments, and renewals
- Translate regulatory requirements into practical, testable security controls
- Lead evidence collection, validation, and documentation across technical and operational teams
- Partner with engineering, cloud, infrastructure, and application teams to remediate control gaps
- Manage relationships with external assessors, auditors, and certification bodies
- Maintain a continuous compliance posture, not pointintime audits
- Develop and maintain control mappings, risk registers, and compliance dashboards
- Advise leadership on certification risk, gaps, and remediation priorities
Required Experience & Skills
- Direct, handson experience leading HITRUST certifications for enterprise organizations
- Proven experience managing audits, assessments, and recertifications endtoend
- Strong understanding of security controls, evidence requirements, and auditor expectations
- Ability to work deeply handson (not just advisory or policylevel)
- Experience partnering with cloud, infrastructure, and security engineering teams
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate across technical and nontechnical stakeholders
Preferred / Plus
- Healthcare or life sciences experience strongly preferred
- Experience in large, complex environments (health systems, academic medical centers, regulated enterprises)
- Familiarity with cloud security controls (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) in regulated settings
- Prior ownership of multiple frameworks simultaneously (HITRUST + SOC 2 / ISO / HIPAA)
