Job Description:
Gridiron IT is seeking a System Engineer to support the National Aeronautics and Space Administration s (NASA) Consolidated Applications and Platform Services (NCAPS) program. This role focuses on strengthening NASA s external collaboration and access control capabilities across Microsoft 365, while contributing to the broader NCAPS mission of modernizing and standardizing enterprise applications and platforms.
Responsibilities: External Access & Collaboration Management (Primary)
- Create, configure, and maintain Microsoft 365 Access Packages to support secure external access to SharePoint, Teams, and related applications.
- Manage access requests, permissions assignments, and periodic access reviews.
- Monitor and audit permissions to ensure compliance with NASA and Agency IT security policies.
- Provide troubleshooting and support for access?related and eShare external collaboration issues.
- Use Power Automate to build, optimize, and maintain workflow processes supporting access control.
- Maintain NAMS identity assets and coordinate with ICAM stakeholders on requirements, updates, and release planning.
- Collaborate with M365 and IT security teams to ensure Access Package configurations and external sharing controls meet organizational security standards.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog reviews, and coordination meetings for external access management initiatives.
NCAPS Systems Engineering & Application Support (Secondary)
- Provide operational, technical, and administrative support for external collaboration platforms, including workspace configuration, migrations, and performance monitoring.
- Support workflow troubleshooting and assist with building workflows that enhance user onboarding, provisioning, and external sharing processes.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for access control integration across NCAPS applications.
- Communicate effectively with developers, engineering teams, and stakeholders regarding system issues, access challenges, and collaboration needs.
- Assist with system sustainment, updates, and enhancements as needed.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor s degree (or equivalent experience).
- Ability and willingness to obtain a NASA Public Trust Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Teams, Azure AD) with a strong focus on identity and access management.
- Demonstrated experience managing access provisioning, permissions, security groups, and external collaboration controls.
- Ability to troubleshoot access, workflow, and collaboration issues in enterprise environments.
- Experience working with workflow tools such as Power Automate.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for non?technical users.
- Ability to collaborate with cross?functional technical and security teams.
Desired
- Experience supporting NASA programs or working within federal ICAM environments.
- Familiarity with systems engineering, data integration, or application sustainment within enterprise platforms.
- Knowledge of M365 external sharing policies, governance, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience with version control processes, documentation, or application release management.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Passion for developing secure, user?focused collaboration solutions.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $45-60hourly (Compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, skills, education, certifications, seniority, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.)
