One of our clients is urgently looking for a Datacenter Technician.
Duration: 1-2 months (possible extension)
Hourly: $45 - $50 per hour
Location: Barker, NY (5 days onsite)

Shifts:
- Two 8-hour shifts per day (8:00 AM–4:00 PM and 8:00 PM–4:00 AM).
- 3 technicians per shift, resulting in 6 total techs per day.
Scope:
The Data Center Technician is responsible for installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of data center infrastructure, including structured cabling systems, rack & stack operations, routers, switches, and related hardware. The role ensures optimal uptime, compliance with data center standards, and adherence to operational best practices.
Milestone of the Project:
Installation and cabling of Arista routers (approximately 400 connections)
Key Responsibilities
1. Rack & Stack Operations
- Install, mount, and decommission servers, storage devices, and network equipment in racks.
- Perform structured rack layout planning following data center standards (hot/cold aisle containment).
- Ensure proper grounding and power distribution (PDU installation and labeling).
- Maintain rack elevation documentation and asset tracking.
2. Structured Cabling
- Install, terminate, label, and test copper (Cat6/Cat6A) and fiber optic cabling (SM/MM).
- Perform cable dressing, routing, and management per TIA/EIA standards.
- Conduct cable certification and OTDR testing.
- Maintain cable documentation and patch panel mapping.
3. Network Equipment (Routers & Switches)
- Install and configure Layer 2/Layer 3 switches and enterprise routers.
- Perform IOS upgrades, patching, and firmware updates.
- Configure VLANs, trunking, port channels, and basic routing protocols.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues using diagnostic tools (ping, traceroute, loopback tests).
- Replace and upgrade network modules and transceivers (SFP, QSFP).
